I was worried that the six inch sharpening stone would be too small from reading the reviews...So, I went to the larger stone.

This sharpening stone does not have a step by step tracking system through Amazon, so I just had to wait through the projected delivery estimate. Uppon the last day of projected delivery, I had still not seen my sharpening stone. So, I emailed the seller.

I got a very prompt response, and an immediate replacement shipped out. Several days later, the sharpening stone arrived. The sales representative took care of everything. He was very professional, and very responsive. With customer service like that, you can't loose!

The product it's self is exactly the quality I expected. The wood base is sturdy, definately not the heaviest lumber, but not balsa wood either; and the oil bottle fits firmly in it's place. The stones are good and solid, and there is a label at the end of the block to help you determine the coarseness of the stone you are using. The stones do appear to be glued to the central piece of wood, and on mine, they are slightly misaligned, but not to the point of making the stone un-useable by any means.

The stones come with a little instruction sheet folded into the packadging. I placed mine back under the stones after use in the groove of the stand. They are clear, and easy to follow. The stone it's self is easy to use, and the right size for my large forged kitchen knife.

I have never used a sharpening stone before, but being displeased with the rod sharpener that came with my knife, I decided to go for it. This stone is great. My knife was slowly dulling, and the metal rod sharpener that came with it wasn't helping. I used this stone once, and redeemed the precise sharpness that I had been missing.

I am very pleased with this product, and with the phenominal customer service.

I have a decent set of JA Henkle kitchen knives that have been neglected for a very long time. Having all 3 grits of this set available allowed me to get them back into shape with a bit of effort. The included angle guide is helpful to first learn, and then confirm appropriate angle. Now sharpened, I'm finding that keeping razor sharp is really pretty fast and easy to do. The original plan was to get the knives sharp, then put the stones in a closet and bring them out when time to sharpen again. Having the stones easily accessable for that little tune up when it's time to cut a batch of tomatoes means they now have a permanent place in the kitchen.

I don't see myself using the roughest of the stones much in the future, but having it available to get started sharpening the really dull knives was indispensable. If you have knives that are pretty sharp to start with, and just need a fine honing stone, maybe the smoothest would be enough without need for the other two, but having all 3 is nice to have.

The way the base is made and how it holds the triangle of stones is really stable - there is no danger of the stones moving until you move them yourself. The honing oil fits nicely into a hole in the base keeping everything together. The stones also are a good size. Any smaller, and sharpening longer blade knives might be a challenge - at the same time, the entire set up is not any bigger than it needs to be and take up valuable kitchen space. Overall, this is a high quality product that is well made.

I have used these stones to keep a set of Oxo knives sharp. The three stones included are a good combination of roughness to allow you to either polish up the edge of a knife (finer stones) or completely resurface the cutting edge (rough stone). The base holds the stones well, but I found that it slid around on my countertop a little as I worked. I put a few rubber feet on the base to keep it in place while I worked. Some instructions are included on how to use the stones, but I found it easiest to learn by watching a few videos online that demonstrated the proper technique.

Two excellent Arkansas stones and one coarser diamond stone in a very convenient and attractive solid wood holder. The top stone is held at a perfect height for hand sharpening and the holder keeps oil off your workbench. I used all 3 stones to put an edge on a brand new pocket knife and they did a beautiful job. The snap-cap on the little plastic bottle probably won't last long but I didn't buy it for that.

This is a very good, basic stone-sharpening setup with three divisions of stones by grain. Works very well once you have mastered the art of manual knife sharpening, which takes some practice. It would work easier if you could attached the wooden base permanently to some immovable surface. Using this system (or any three stone system) is difficult on a kitchen countertop. It's too high and the setup moves around, making the sharpening process tedious and difficult. Great knife sharpening with stones is a bit of an art. Great for quick touchups. The truth is, an electric sharpener is so much easier and better for most folks. Yes, you artisans will argue with me, but who has time for this in the middle of meal preparation. The electrics do a fine job if used correctly. And they are so much easier to learn.

I sharpen the knives I carry. From designer stainless steels to 1095, I love this little stone kit for it's price, what it can do, and its quality. I do use leather strap to finish the edge, but for the average person, this kit would be completely what they need. I prefer the all stone kits over the diamond stone like other manufacturers supply. The base is sturdy, the kit comes with oil which is nice, yet unnecessary, as I use mineral oil. If you were going to sharpen larger blades, you could still use this stone kit.
