I didn't have any of the problems listed above.
The impact gun arrived in its own plastic (branded Kawasaki) carrying case with molded-in placeholders for the impact gun, two double-sided impact-grade sockets (included), and two fuses (included but so far unnecessary). I unpacked it, unraveled its fair-length cord and plugged it into my vehicle's cigarette lighter. I grabbed one of the included sockets, made sure it fit the lugnuts on the car, and attached it to the gun. There is a push-pull side-to-side kind of switch that determines the direction the impact gun spins. I made sure that was set for REMOVING the lug nuts. Mind you, these lugnuts were impacted on by the last shop I took my car to.
I pulled the trigger. Spiiiiiiiiiiiin-CLANK. Spiiiiiiin-CLANK. Spiiiiin-spin-spin-spin. Lug nut removed. About 10 seconds, not bad at all. Tried the next lug nut. Same performance. The motor spools up for a second, accelerates a few internal weights, then releases its energy by hammering the lug nut. Depending on which direction you have it set to spin, it will hammer the lug nut until it spins completely off the wheel stud, or it will spin the lug nut onto the stud and hammer at it until you decide it's tight enough.
This gun's seen intermittent use in the past few weeks, being passed between me and a friend while we work on our projects in my driveway and garage.
The cord length is somewhere in the 8-10 foot range. I have a small 12V, 7.5Ah sealed lead-acid battery that I've connected a spare vehicle power outlet/cigarette lighter to. This allows me to position the battery and impact gun near whatever car I'm working on, without worrying about draining the battery. Speaking of my worry of draining the battery: that worry proved to be for nothing. I've used the same little SLA battery since I received the impact gun, and haven't charged it at all. The performance of the impact gun is unchanged.
As far as build quality, it has a very solid feel to it, with a good weight to it as well.
My feedback to the people who are looking for a 12V impact gun that matches (or even comes CLOSE) to an airgun: Look elsewhere. 12 volts has its limitations. If you want the instantaneous, divine un-torquing, bolt breaking, apocalypse-inducing power associated with air impact guns, look elsewhere. Keep your expectations realistic: An inexpensive 12V impact gun that will significantly lessen the strain on your back and arms. A 12V impact gun that will do the job several times faster than you could even if you had a breaker bar. A 12V impact gun that will last.
Bottom line: If you're looking for an impact gun that will save your back and arm from the usual strain involved with breaking lug nuts (or any other heavily torqued bolts) free, this will reliably do it faster than you ever could while using very little power.

UPDATE 2/23/2016: This impact gun died a horrible death a couple years ago, while I completed a job this was never meant to do. I assisted a friend with replacing balljoints on his 2000 Ford Taurus. This impact gun was used to remove all lugnuts from wheels, remove the 30mm axle nuts from the front wheels, press new balljoints into control arms, and replace the 30mm axle nuts. The impact gun began to wobble and rattle, very evidently less balanced, in the last few impacts to the axle nut as it was torqued back into place. When the trigger was pressed afterward, the motor could be heard accelerating, but it was no longer transmitting torque to the 1/2" drive. The impact gun was done for.
I will not drop any stars for this, as the impact gun wasn't designed to do all the work I set before it, in the duty cycle I forced upon it. I am impressed that it was able to complete the job I gave it, and it was money well-spent. No regrets.
If used correctly this tool WILL remove anything on a vehicle. It does not strike thousands of times per minute like a typical impact. What it does instead given the limited input power through 12v is strike about twice a second. There is a large motor directly running a flywheel. This weight has a spring retracted 1/2" steel pin in it. When it spins fast enough, a small weight inside of the flywheel moves outward, which extends the large pin. This pin then engages a bow tie shaped piece of steel that leads to the 1/2" output shaft. wrrrRRRRR WHACK, wrrrRRRRR WHACK. Repeat.
There is NO thrust bearing on this tool! That bowtie shaped steel piece will be pushed into the flywheel and act like a brake if you apply any forward pressure against the wheel lug or other fastener.
Steps to be successful when using this tool.
Step one; Check to see if it is the 280ft lb model. If not, return it and get a replacement from Amazon until you get one. This however should be a year past relevance and the old model is long gone.
Step two; Insure that you have a solid electrical connection. That means, no dirty used for lighting cigarette 12v electrical outlets.
If you smoke, or have a crappy outlet with small wires in your car, get a battery clamp to 12v outlet adapter. The tool will have a faster strike rate when the vehicle is running.
Step three, TEST the tool in your hand using the largest socket for comfort. Hold the socket still with your hand while pulling the trigger. The tool should spin up and strike fairly quickly. It should strike just over two times per second. You can observe at this point how others are messing up when using this tool. Try pushing the socket inward, as if you were pushing the tool against the wheel being removed. Note how the RPM drops, and you can easily get it to the point that the tool can't even spin up to a high enough speed to swing the pin out and strike.
If everything is working correct, the final step is to place the socket fully, but loosely over the intended fastener to be removed.
If it is a wheel lug, use the included bubble level on the tool to be as square as possible on the fastener. That means left and right too! No twisting.
Do NOT push the tool into the wheel! This is absolutely critical. Let the tool do the work. Yes, it will take a while on stubborn ones that are rusted.
Each hit is as powerful as a typical impact, but the typical ones make those strikes WAY faster.
Step four;
Smile as you just removed your wheel in a few minutes, with zero effort, on the side of the road, with a tool that cost you less than $50.
It only takes 3 impacts to remove a 150 ft lb lug from a super duty ford F350. Tested with two torque wrenches.
I use this impact nearly every day. For me, I took it apart and lubricated the pin and flywheel surfaces with Tufoil and Lucas green synthetic grease. It works better than ever, and I highly recommend that this be done if you intend to use this thing a lot.
I have yet to find ANY fastener, pipe, fitting, or other object that wouldn't succumb to this wrenches might.

Overall quality is very nice and feels solid in the hand. A convenient spirit level is built into the body - very useful in making sure you are level with your lug nuts to avoid stripping. The unit has a contains a bright white LED light that comes on when it's plugged into 12 volt car socket. The light will come in handy if you are stranded in the dark with a flat tire. The power cord is sufficiently long, allowing you to comfortably work on all 4 wheels. Included are 2 impact sockets, 2 spare fuses and a sturdy storage case. I highly recommend!
This is NOT an air hammer, it won't bust lug nuts in seconds or torque them until they fuse to the wheel. It takes a few seconds to build up speed for each impact, but it makes removing a wheel almost effortless.
Takes time but works fine to take off the lug nuts.
