No tool is perfect for every job, but this one could have come a lot closer. What you can't tell from the picture is how the end fittings are setup. The slotted one on the right is just about what you want for the job. The one on the left is not slotted, it's more of a shallow cup. The flat hose clamps that this is for have a pair of tabs on one end that go in the slot, and a single tab on the other end that fit nicely into the cup. The tool has just about the correct angle to get into most places.

The problem is that when the ends of the hose clamp don't match up with the ends of the tool, you have to hold the tool angled backwards to get its fittings to grab. This makes it impossible to access some clamps. The end fittings are secured with push nuts so you can't swap them. If BOTH of the end fittings were slotted, this tool would be just about ideal. It's still better than using pliers on most of the clamps I used it on.

The pliers are well constructed and work just fine. The ends of the jaws are different and only grab a spring clamp one way, and you can't flip them over like a straight pair due to the bend. Save the money and get a cable-type clamp tool and a set of these in a straight cut configuration.
