This insanely magnificent film is a visual glory. I have watched it probably 50 times. Each time nuances show up that I didn't notice before. I like both versions included here. The documentary is also great.
Watch the color palette Coppola uses. Each scene has a particular color assigned to it. The farther you get into the film, the more the colors are indicators of what is happening. The tiger scene is dominated by blue. It is extraordinary.
Sheen is brilliant as Capt. Willard. Duvall and Brando get most of the accolades but Sheen is the person guiding us on this trip into Cambodia. His performance is the one to watch. It is understated and mesmerizing. He does more with his eyes than most actors do with pages of dialogue and the narrations are chilling.
Coppola is a true eccentric genius. None of APN was filmed with CGI. Everything was real - the helicopter shots, the explosions, the torrential rains. A film like this can never happen again.
I don't really enjoy war films, but this is atypical. It can exhaust you with all that it asks of viewers, but it's a good tired, a satisfied one. This film helps you realize that filmmaking is a true art form.

Yes, this is a 3 disc set. Yes, it has Apocalypse Now, Apocalypse Now Redux, and Hearts of Darkness, but those features do not take up one disc each. Both versions of Apocalypse Now are on Disc 1. These are the full versions, NOT broken up like they were on The Complete Dossier! Commentaries on the films. Disc 2 is Hearts of Darkness with commentary by Eleanor and Francis Ford Coppola as well as a storyboard gallery and marketing archive. I have not seen in either the product description or reviews about any special features. That's Disc 3. There are a lot of special features on here. I'm not going to list them all, but many of them were on The Complete Dossier, but there are a lot of new stuff on here too. So the Full Disclosure Blu-ray is definitely worth the price and deserves a place in your library.

The scope of this film is amazing. I'm not sure if a movie like this would or could be made anymore. The cast is large and phenomenal, too. The cinematography is probably the most incredible of any film I've ever seen. I think part of what makes this movie so powerful is that even though it's a war film, it feels small, while being grand. We are always in the mind of Captain Willard, and at times, the war seems like nothing more than background decorations that we slowly watch through his eyes, almost unconcerned and unbothered, but certainly removed from.

I made the mistake of buying "Apocalypse Now Redux" before I purchased the original version. Horrible mistake! It absolutely ruined my concept of the original film. My husband and I cringed at the long drawn out French hide-away down the river and Sheen's sudden obsession with one of the French women and a 'quickie' interlude in the middle of the night. Also, having the USO women performing as prostitutes on the side--really?!!! Just an awful version of this truly great film and concept. Do not waste your money on the Redux version and only get the original. The original film is wonderful and riveting, without the cheap love affairs or additional superfluous garbage thrown in.

This movie is the most Amazing thing that I have ever seen. APN is a great movie that was introduced to me a few years back and it blew my mind when I saw it, then when I saw Redux I was hooked to the utter confusion and interest that is this movie. Hearts of Darkness provided so much insight into the story I have come to call a pleasurable experience of insanity. Don't get me wrong I love this movie.

I liked the movie! The movie was intriguing and I liked best the 3 disc feature. Except, I was looking for more disclosure. Although, I haven’t watch all of the 3 disc so far, so hopefully they’ll be more disclosure. The movie is really a essential to the greatest and best most realization movies ever! I, was sympathetic about things and realized how lucky I am.

It's not very often that I look for extras with films, but this is one of those rare occasions where it is worth it. I love owning it, I don't have to rely on it hopefully being on netflix or amazon prime when I want to see or or show it to someone.

One of the best films ever made
Reviewed in Canada on December 29, 2020
Usually called the best Vietnam war movie ever made, this is a correct but slightly misleading title. Platoon is probably the better movie to depict the Vietnam war from a soldiers perspective, however this movie is undoubtedly way ahead of Platoon in cinematography and story telling (not to take anything away from Platoon it’s a fantastic movie). Beautifully shot it hasn't aged at all, using no CGI or questionable effects, all real and epic. The story is great and unique, I would definatly recommend the Directors cut, it adds two segments that add even more depth to the story which I think are worth the extra run time. Hard to say more about this movie, it’s a classic film and one of the greatest of any category ever made, everything about it is just on point

Good Movie, Good Price

This is a pretty good bang for your buck, especially for such a great movie as this. Maybe other versions got more to it but for this price you can't really go too wrong.

Apparently I bought a low-quality pirated copy . Quality of fillms are ok, but the navigation menus are generic.
Considering the low price I can't say I feel ripped off, but his is not an original item but a low budget pirated bluray.
This is NOT a review of the artistic qualities of the movies, I consider Apocalypse Now (original 1979 version) to be a true masterpiece of cinema, "Redux" however is not to my taste.

ONE OF THE MOST FASCINATING AND UNFORGETTABLE MOVIES IN MOTION PICTURE HISTORY
Reviewed in Canada on August 22, 2020
This is the complete package--containing the feature-length "making of" (or in this particular case, "Surviving the...") and including, in the bonus section, deleted scenes, including the alternative ending, seen behind end-credits.
So it's the all-round movie experience of a film that stunned audiences when first released (1979) and continues to do so today, half a century later.
One for the ages. That this movie was the writer/director/director's SECOND claim to fame (the first was the Godfather trilogy) means the movie-maker is also "one for the ages."
