Fix / Upgrade your Sears C3 air pump hose chuck
I purchased this to fix my Sears C3 air pump hose and I also purchased a Anderson Metals Brass Hose Fitting, Connector, 3/16" Barb x 1/4" Male Pipe . The 3/16" Barb fits ~too~ perfectly in the hose. It will need to be hose clamped on or I used cable ties to secure. I wish I did not take a earlier review recommendation on a 3/16 inch and purchased one size larger like the 1/4" male to get more of a snug fit. To connect both brass parts, I used plumbers white tape wrapped twice to stop air leaks. Use a cigarette lighter to carefully melt nylon webbing after making the cut to control nylon covering the hose from fraying. You can pinch the hot melted nylon beads to flatten and making it a even spread. Be Careful.. ..It is HOT and may stick to fingers if is really hot.I should also add.. that do NOT pump air if chuck is NOT attached to tire or you can possibly damage your pump because if not attached to your tire, you are compressing air in just the hose giving you pump some serious abuse. After filling air in tire, make sure to release compressed air left in the hose by pressing the metal in the air chuck.

I received a new tire pressure balancing device today, and for the first time was able to balance the pressures instantly in all four of my Jeep’s tires without endless tedium. The first thing I did, however, was discard the junky locking air chuck attachment that came with it and replaced it with the CTA Tools 1930 Straight Lock-On Air Chuck that I bought here four years ago, which is solidly constructed and works perfectly on all kinds of tires after 4 years of rugged use.

I have an old Ryobi tire inflator that works with the One+ batteries (like many of the tools I have from Ryobi). In recent months, the inflator chuck began leaking air - to the point it was difficult to inflate a tire. You pretty much had to hold the chuck "just right" as you were inflating. A real pain. From reading online reviews of the inflator, apparently this is a common problem with this Ryobi unit. The rubber seal in the chuck wears out and then the unit will not clamp down tightly on the tire stem. So I looked at the newer Ryobi inflator and it uses an even flimsier style chuck (like the kind you find on a cheap bicycle pump). So I began looking for a replacement chuck that was heavy duty and found this one on Amazon(after searching several local stores to no avail). So it came yesterday and I installed it today and it works great. For around 5 bucks I saved a $40 compressor that really was worknig fine otherwise. BTW - for around $15 I had found the OEM replacement hose/chuck for the Ryobi - but no doubt it would also wear out in a few years. I don't believe this unit from CTA will wear out anytime soon - it appears to be very well made.

I just bought an SUV that has a compressor built into the back, but it was missing the hose and accessories. I bought this air chuck to attach to the end of the hose that connects to the car and it works PERFECTLY. I got the idea from a YouTube video. In the video, they recommend a less expensive Campbell Hausfeld Chuck ( CAMPBELL HAUSFELD MP323200AV Air Chuck/Clip System ) which I purchased locally from a popular big box store. But for the life of me I couldn't get it to secure properly. And because of the tight space, the clip system was a real headache. So I returned it and decided to look for a better option and found this one on Amazon. It locked on perfectly with the first try and definitely feels heavier duty than the last one. In the end it turns out I could have bought a cheap portable compressor for less than I paid for this air chuck, the hose, and the accessory kit. But what can I say, I thought a built in compressor was super cool and it works great on my flamingo!

Using cheap lock-on chucks from auto stores and Walmart, I could not easily fill my portable, 3-gal air tank with my compressor-- the chuck always leaked and fell off around 80 to 90 PSI. This chuck solved that problem. So far, it holds onto the schraeder valve without leaking (at least about 100 PSI, the limit of the tank). The only thing is that it uses a metal tab to grip the threads, which may wear down the threads over time. You may want to consider another chuck sold on Amazon--Coilhose Pneumatics CH15 Closed Lock-On Chuck; reviews indicate that it does the same thing, but doesn't affect the threads. Regardless, I'll probably keep using this chuck for a long time because it looks and feels very sturdy, it's easy to use, and it works.

I looked EVERYWHERE for this thing. I have racing kart tires with wide rims and the shrader valve is deep inside. This fits perfect and I don't have to hold it with my hand when I am setting the tire bead on the wheel. On magnesium rims this can be dangerous as they sometimes explode. I also use it to inflate my portable air tank. Now I can just clip it on and let the machine cycle until its full and walk away. It is a VERY high quality unit, seals and grips reliably, and worth every penny of what it cost.

Used it to replace a defective head on a floor pump for bicycles (Schrader valves). Works very well. Excellent product.

The air hose of floor pumps is usually 3/16" or 1/4" inner diameter. You can find 1/4-Inch Male NPT fittings with 3/16" or 1/4" barbs to fit this Lock-On Air Chuck and the hose that you are using (amazon, or use Google images).

Instead of using Teflon tape on the threads, I used a bit of epoxy; just in case the Teflon tape would not sustain the air pressure (e.g. > 90 PSI). Additional to the fact that you have to be very careful not to over tighten these type of couplings. If over tightened once, they're ruined. You cannot untighten them, replace the Teflon tape and hope you'll be able to reuse them.

Solid build with quality materials, but weak connection on valve stem. Still need to keep hand on it to properly fill. I was hoping to clip it on the valve stem and fill any tire with one hand on the trigger, NOT the case with this one. Over all it's good, but not great, still in search of the one handed connection.

For an item so simple, you would be amazed how hard it can be to find a quality air chuck. Most either don't hold onto valve stems well at all or quickly wear down or develop leaks. Not this chuck, mine has been in daily use for over a year now and it still grips valve stems as well as it did the day it arrived with no leaks. In short, if you looking for an air chuck, look no further than this CTA chuck.
