    3rd Gen Tacoma Softopper compatible

    3rd Gen Tacoma Softopper compatible
As others have said, this can fit a 3rd (or 2nd) generation Tacoma just fine IF your topper is cab height or so and you make it tight. I have a Softopper and am aware they sell their own version of this for a little more cash. I decided to take the same concept and DIY it and the results were still great! Reading other reviews on here I used existing 3/4 PVC conduit I already had, drilled some holes for some camera tripod legs I also had that are telescoping and done! This fully supports the tent and keeps it taught without having any rear window support. I was able to remove the metal bar from the topper and just flip the window up on top.The material does leave something to be desired and I would recommend using some waterproofing spray on it so it doesn't leak through in wet conditions which we will be testing soon for a week straight in the mountains of Colorado which are very rain prone. Goal accomplished, short bed - tailgate down camping without staking down a tent every day or spending big money on an RTT.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I needed!
Reviewed in the United States on June 8, 2022
I was on the fence about buying this as I saw a lot of the reviews had trouble with the fit and their installs just looked... shoddy. I went ahead and pulled the trigger because there is really nothing else out there quite like this setup. I'm super happy I did! I bought the mid-size and it fits perfectly on my 2014 Tacoma with an ARE Shell.

One note: on the box it said my generation of Tacoma would require the full size version, but I went with the mid size based off of a few reviews here. It was the right choice. I also found the fitting to be pretty flexible, meaning I think I this would still work with a high top. I'm planning on getting roof racks at some point and I'm pretty sure this will work just fine over the top of them.

The installation was a breeze, the price was nice, and the quality of the materials is great. I have a feeling I'll be getting a lot of use out of this!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice fit on Chevy Colorado
Reviewed in the United States on August 16, 2023
This extends my bed so I can sleep in the 6 foot bed of my Colorado with standard height Leer topper. I can now fit my backpacking cot back there, and can sleep very comfortably. So far I had 2 trips, both of which ended up in rain, (a lot of rain) and the tent back didn't leak any water whatsoever.

I bought the mid sized option and as you can see by the pictures, it is perfect. I only wish there were other color options, but it is just fine.

I spent a weekend in Pennsylvania at the "Soggy Bottom Motofest" where 300+ dirt bikers, adventure bikers, and dual-sport riders were camping and got a lot of great comments about my setup.

I also want to mention that set up takes less than 3 minutes after a time or two. I highly recommend.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect....
Reviewed in the United States on February 27, 2020
Great tent, worked perfectly. Only a few things to be aware of.

    1) The zippers snag very easily. You must take your time and also run a finger under the zipper flap to keep it from snagging. This can be a pain getting in and out, especially if you have an urgent call of nature....

    2) One single use and you can see threads already coming loose. I will likely get a heavy duty needle and fishing line and put "tacks" on all of the joints like in this picture.

    3) WATERPROOF IMMEDIATELY! It's not so much the rain as standard tent wicking. One night it rained pretty heavy and I was perfectly dry. The second night there was a heavy dew and I got my back soaked crawling out where it touched the tent. I just sealed all of the seams and gave it a couple of coats of camp dry, hopefully that helps.

    4) The cost is about double what it should be. Great tent...but still.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value - Fits 2001 Toyota Tacoma
Reviewed in the United States on March 20, 2022
Easy to assemble, no nonsense design, fits well on 1st gen Tacomas. This setup has withstood 50 mph sandstorms in the desert, and snow blizzards in the mountains. It's nothing fancy, but it gets the job done at a decent price point.

Note: If you're running a softtopper, you'll need to pole out the rear canopy since it relies on a ridged tailgate to support it. Telescoping Trekking poles work well for this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Isuzu Rodeo 2010 Fits/Works well. Bought in the UK
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 6, 2022
This fits my Isuzu Rodeo 2010 really well (with after market carry boy topper). My truck has a 53 Inch wide tailgate. There are gaps at the bottom either side of the tailgate, but they closed up much better than I have seen on youtube by stretching the bottom bungee cord around the tow hitch. No issues with import fees or anything like that, I clicked buy, added in my address, it adjusted for postage and it arrived no fuss. My tent is non-symmetrical on the right hand side it looks like its had an extension sown in the top white bit that goes over the roof. It might have been a repair, or to make up for it being cut short, or that's just the way it is. In either case it has made no difference to how it works. Really pleased with it; I'll try it out next weekend.
