Okay, so it's not as thick as 10ga wire, but this is far better than anything you'll get at your local Walmart. Love the insulation and when I stripped it, no wire breakage was noticed. So I give it two thumbs up and a five star rating. I have it wired in my vehicle and it is carrying 1400w@1ohm so it can also handle a good amount of amperage. Price to use, it's top notch. Is it Monster cable or other top tier wire? No. Does it do the job? Yes, and for a fraction of the price. I'm not in diehard comps so it works for me as well as most anybody needing some good speaker wire.

I needed at least 12 GA, so after reading the reviews here about this being a little more insulation than wire, I figured it would work for my needs.

However, I broke out a digital caliper and after stripping it (losing 2 strands) and measuring tightly at the base, I got 2.56mm. That's 1.1% less than 2.588mm required; well within an appropriate margin of error.

So what you're getting is 10 GA wire with really good insulation. The core may look smaller because the insulation is so thick (which is great!).

FWIW I'm an electrical engineer by trade and education.

I disliked how when you strip the wire the wire actually pulls out of the sheathing.
The thickness of the actual copper wire is very thin comparatives how much sheathing plastic is around it. Lots of sheathing little bit of wire.
