The Taotronics one works great but lacks NFC. Main problem is after connecting you get like 3 seconds before the amp actually kicks in so the sound is very faint and then comes up at normal volume after that delay. It has lasted for me for quite a long time but the battery life has notably diminished over about 8 months. I use that mostly to make my headphones work like Bluetooth ones despite being 3.5mm jack standard. Never noticed a difference in sound quality between plugged in and using the receiver. Uses uncommon USB-A
MPOW sucked. It seemed to work well at first, but using it the same as Taotronics whenever I moved it cut out for most of a full second. Extremely annoying. Volume and skip controls was a nice touch though. at least it used standard mini-USB.
The unbranded adapter screamed distortion at me every few seconds. Just awful. Also was 8 times the size of this one but same size battery... why?
The Esinkin adapter functions just like the Logitech one at half the price. Just $23 was a steal for it, but it is pretty blocky. It also uses a weird 3.5mm barrel jack to charge despite using USB, which is a pain. I use that one for a stationary stereo system and it works well but if you are charging it and unplug it it disconnects for some reason.
Then there's this puppy. This $20, smallish but not tiny one-button receiver. The connection with this guy is second to none, worked great for me with a connection to my smartphone with the receiver sitting still while I walked around a room over 40 feet away. Never dropped connection once. When it connects, it's instant sound, unlike the Taotronics one. Again, comparing to Taotronics, they weirdly promise the same 10 hour battery life but this has a 200mAh battery vs Taotronics 145mAh. I expect this one delivers 10 hours even at high volume and Taotronics at lower levels. They have nearly identical one button controls and both use similar blue/red LED patters so at first I thought they used the same exact board but this seems to function better all around, so props to Etekcity, and the Taotronics one lacks NFC. This is also the only one of those besides the Esinkin adapter to come with not only a USB charging cable but also a wall adapter for it, plus both include an RCA cable adapter. And even better, this uses standard mini-USB so it works with the same cable that charges every Android and which I have like 7 of.
NFC is great. Fidelity is great. Haven't pushed the battery life much but so far - great. The rubber grip pad like on the Esinkin adapter would work well if the units weren't so lightweight, but it's decent. I planned to use this with a custom modified stereo system so I actually suck a thin steel sheet in the square space inside the rubber and stuck it with magnets in place, which surprisingly didn't ruin its functionality at all thanks to a steel plate of shielding already inside the unit from the factory.
Perhaps the best part of this thing is it just works. You connect to it in paring mode once or NFC once, and then any time both devices are on it auto connects. Keep it charged and you get no problems. If you want to extend the battery life of it, keep the volume maxed on whatever is plugged into it and adjust the volume from the streaming device so the signal produced by the receiver is as quiet as possible. I never noticed any distortion from this thing at high volumes or with a bunch of random things between me and the receiver including a closed door. It just works and keeps working.
Out of the box uou notice that the Etekcity Wireless Bluetooth audio receiver unit is small, by my eye like 1.5" x 1.5" x 1" and it weighs almost nothing. In the box is the unit itself, a USB power cord, a 110V plug with a receiver for the aforementioned USP power cord, and then two different cords to for plugging into speakers directly or a stereo system. There's the 3.5 mm headphone jack, and the other cord splits into the left/right red and white audio connectors so that you can attach the device to an stereo receiver.
Since I'm only using this in my car I just use the 3.5mm audio jack connected to the unit itself. After taking everything out of the box and reading the directions, I changed the receiver for a few hours before heading out to my car. You turn on the bluetooth receiver by pressing the larce circular button on the face of the device for about 8/10 seconds. When it turns on, it makes an audible 'do-daa' kinda noise to let you know. After turning it on for the first time I turned on my phones Bluetooth. I've got a Google Pixel phone which is known to not have the best Bluetooth paring, so I don't know if the trouble I had with the initial pairing was with the phone oe the Etekcity, but it was very, VERY difficult to pair. After about 10 minutes of trying, I FINALLY got the phone and receiver to pair. That't been the ONLY time I've had problems pairing my phone and the receiver. Aftert that I just turn on the bluetooth receiver, turn on my phones Bluetooth, and bam! they pair with no problems. FYI, the device's Bluetooth name is "UNITY". at least it in on my phone.
What's even better about this new setup in my car is that I no longer hear the annoying buzzing sound from the 3.5mm audio cable when driving. The sound is clean and crisp. When my phone and the Elekcity pair, the volume output on my phone automatically drops to about 60% of the full volume, no matter where the volume was previously. I think this is a nice little touch so that you don't blow your ears out when connecting the two devices. I honestly can't think of a single thing wrong with this. I rarely give 5 star reviews to anything, but this has earned it's 5 star review.
Have no fear when purchasing the Elekcity Bluetooth audio receiver. The ratings are correct.

The range is also very impressive. The product literature says 10 meters and I always assume those sorts of claims are under perfectly ideal circumstances. However, I actually tried playing music with my Bosch radio in the basement and I went up to the second floor of my house and it was still playing fine without breaking up.
The unit also comes with a full set of cables which was a nice touch. There is both a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable and a 3.5mm to RCA cable included, as well as a USB cable and power adapter. It also has an internal battery but I haven't tested how long it lasts since my Bosch radio has a USB power port built in so I don't really need the battery. I suppose it would be handy if you're using it with an old boom box or something like that.
All in all I've been very happy with this device. It's an inexpensive way to add Bluetooth capability to legacy audio gear.
Audio quality is very good. I use it to stream audio from my phone (podcasts, audiobooks and spotify) to the AUX input of my van's sound system. Never have any audio problems.
The bluetooth receiver was shipped with all the necessary cables and an external charger. The manual is clearly written and the instructions are simple enough to follow. I just have to turn on the system, wait a little, press the flashing button on the receiver and voila, my music is now playing through the house using the Bluetooth. It works really well and we can't hear any noise sounds that would be generated by the device in the speakers which is fantastic for a bluetooth device.
At this price, it’s quite a steal and you won’t be sacrificing your sound quality. Great purchase, happy customers.
BUY WITH CONFIDENCE
- Small device
- Long Charge Time
- Colour indication for when it's connected/not connected
Cons:
- RCA extremely cheap and had a 10% internal wire contact.
- Aux cord is the same. One of the ends is crimped and doesn't connect properly.
- Can't control overall volume from my device since it automatically boosts the audio signal to max.
- When it first connects it has trouble finding the bluetooth to my phone. Also enjoys disconnecting 3 or 4 times before actually playing music(Only on startup). Have tried the bluetooth connectivity on other devices aswell such as an Iphone6, Nexus 5x, Nexus 7 Tablet. Same Issue.
Overall:
Luckily I work with live audio and have a few RCA and Aux cables around that are 100 times better than what they ship it with. It's ridiculously annoying that every time I want to use it I have to let it disconnect a few times before it works properly. After that little hicup it's smooth after that. No interruptions. However spending 40$ on this I was worth it just for the device itself. Helps alot when I can bluetooth connect my device to any system at any given point. To that I give it a higher rating but the constant issues with the cord and connectivity have made this a very low rating.
My brother purchased the same one and it has the exact same issues as mine.
