    2004 Silverado . . . someone said it doesn't fit, and it doesn't. Here are some problems...1) The outer ring of the hinge on the tailgate sits flush to body of the tailgate. There isn't room for the lock band. With a screwdriver and hammer, and maybe loosening the bolts to the tailgate, you can make some room.2) The bends in the lock band will not slip around the outer ring of the tailgate hinge. You can rebend the lock ring so the straighter side is even straighter, or even bent back a little more than that, so it can slip by that slot you made to solve the first problem. Then you need to adjust the bends on the other side so the holes in the band line up so the lock will grab both of them.3) You can't install the lock band like in the video. Instead, leave the tailgate closed and slip up from below.4) You'll find the band will slip into an unusable position unless you put that included washer between the band and the tailgate.5) After all of that, you'll find that the lock body hits the tailgate mounting bolts (one on the tailgate, one on the truck body) so you can't close the tailgate.So, it doesn't fit. However, I had a small Master lock that I could hook through the band holes, and doesn't hit when I close the tailgate, so I think it's now secure. I took this picture and then covered the keyhole with electrical tape to keep out the elements. (And for some reason the photo insists on being sideways...sorry about that.)Epilogue - purely coincidental I'm sure, but now the tailgate won't open! I dug into the latch and found that one of the plastic clips that holds the latch rod is totally brittle and fell apart.     First called for a refund,one picture has the hasp evenly round,ours appeared bent ,lopsided.The hey wouldn't open the lock either.The keys are ruff cut , working the key in and out of the lock several times,and pulling hard on the hasp it opened.The bent hasp is that way on purpose as it fits on one way to keep it tight to the tailgate.Tacoma needed the supplied washer with notch on the tailgate.The hasp gets installed on the bed side ,note had to pry it open a little.reinstall tailgate, squeeze the hasp to fit back in the lock knotches,put a screw driver behind the hasp bed side and lock it.Great fit on 2005 Tacoma, doesn't rub, very happy.Put the keys in a safe place at home,won't ever need them ,as i wont steal from myself,,,, sorry litte pun to easy,,,,,,,Tacoma 2 nd gen

    It fits on a 1989 F-150. This looks fairly easy to pick, BUT, because you have to put a lot of tension on it to turn it, it probably makes it harder to pick, because you have to turn it AND pull it hard to release it. So, it will not be an easy <30 seconds like a Masterlock.

    I locked it, then yanked on the tailgate hard a few times, at the proper angle, so, unless someone crow bars it off, it is staying latched.

    When putting this on, you have to bend or remove the weatherstrip, then once the tailgate is in place, use a pair of needle nose pliers to slightly FLEX the clamp top past the sheet metal on the truck bed. You do not want to bend it. If the clamp was 1/64" shorter it would not hit at all, so, if yours is off by more then that, make sure you have the clamp back towards the bumper. Then once t is past, then rotate it forward, and pull it towards you.

    Bought for my 2009 GMC Sierra 2500HD, very easy to install. Appears durable and does not have a noticeable rattle, nor does it interfere with the tailgate closing. If anyone is determined, they can steal anything. However this is a great little deterrent and I’m much more comfortable leaving my tailgate on my truck. I like the key option as I can add it to my truck key ring and not have to fidget with anything else.
