I tried a couple other brands of LED lights (one brand was Zone Tech, there are many similar) prior to these, with mediocre results. They improved the color of the lighting over OEM bulbs (white vs. that dingy yellow), but the light output was not dramatically improved.
Our family vehicle is a Honda Odyssey, with lots of interior space, and the replacement dome lights barely illuminated the seat area, certainly not the floor of the vehicle.
Finally I tried these bulbs from Alla Lighting (the newer version, with two 3030 SMD LEDs per bulb), and WOW, it was like "now, that's more like it!". I put 7 of these in the Odyssey, and they light up every bit of that interior like it's daylight. I'm not exaggerating.
The bulbs themselves are one-directional, in that if you put them in the "wrong" way they don't light up. If you pay attention to the orientation on the first one when you get it right, you won't have to guess on the rest of them.
I know they're pricey (I got eleven of the Zone Tech bulbs for less than the price of four of these), but if you need more light in your vehicle, I doubt you can do better than these, and you certainly won't be dissatisfied. I've had these in the Odyssey for over a month, and my wife is *still* thanking me for them. I think the brightness makes her feel safer when getting in/out of the vehicle as well. What's that worth to you?
