Our MaxxHaul 70429 LED brake light fits to any standard 2x2 hitch receiver. It comes with a built-in brake light for added safety when hitch is not in use. The light itself has 12 bright LED's which lasts much longer than regular bulbs and features a 1/2" thick gasket providing a snug fit. It even includes a hitch pin.

My first unit lasted only 4 years at best. By year 3, actually quite a few of the LEDs started becoming inoperable. Also, the red lens had completely hazed up by this time. I have to wonder if they used uncoated polycarbonate instead of acrylic.

When I disconnected the old unit from the adapter, I saw quite a bit of corrosion on the terminals. The new unit doesn't look much stronger in terms of water intrusion. I mean there are outright open holes on the back of the housing where the LED board is directly visible, and the gasket doesn't seat against anything in my application so there is going to be water/moisture that gets inside (face palm).

My old unit connected to my adapter fine, but my new unit struggled to connect properly, mechanically speaking. Something is off with the dimensions. Once I finagled the thing on, it seemed to work correctly from an electric/functional aspect.

This is hardly the best aftermarket LED solution out there, but hey, it's cheap. If it lasts for another 3-4 years and helps me avoid accidents in that time, I will consider it money well spent. Now if I have to buy another unit again next time and the design issues are finally resolved, I will be much happier. Or, I might trade up to something nicer...

Keep in mind it is a plastic brake light. It’s not a bumper. It will not withstand impacts with hard objects (especially in the cold). I didn’t buy it as a bumper, I needed a brake light which it does very well. It is led which means it doesn’t burn out (win). It is only a two wire plug which means some vehicles will cause it to flash when the turn signals are engaged. You can buy converters that fix this but I like having the flashing light. It gets attention (which is the entire purpose). It is affordable so when you hypothetically back your truck into a shelf in the back of your garage in the cold of winter and it breaks (not that I know anything about that), it is easily replaceable. This is my second (first one may or may not have found a shelf on a cold day in the garage).

I bought for my new 2023 Ford Maverick. Good value for the money and it looks great. My Maverick didn't like the turn signal functionality, and each time I started a left and right turn signal warning came up. It still worked for turn signals, but the PLC on the truck didn't like the signal going to one set light. I disabled the turn signal wires to the LED light, and now only brake and light functions work which is ok by me.
