You can cut a hole some other way and I have, but this was quick and cleaner. It was quick and easy to mount onto my Multi-tool. For what it is, and how simple it looks, it should be a 1/4 of the price, well at least half the price. Stamp these things out an bend the 4 sides to a 90. It should last for quite a while as you're only cutting through drywall.
Still worked great
I believe a number of people run these at too slow of speeds which causes the bit to strike and drag, whereas an adequate to high RPM lets the saw both score and bite, removing material quickly.
Don't be afraid of it, you have just have to learn the tool and it's minor idiosyncrasies.
