A BTECH label means you are getting the best radio available! A few of our highlighted differences are below:
- BTECH radios use an upgraded Power Chipset
- Customizable PTT Return Times: When handling multiple conversations, the radio allows users to customize if the radio automatically switches to respond to active channels, or allow the user to set one channel default to transmit on.
- Dual Synchronize Display Mode: Synchronize Up to 2 Channels - and display both their channel name and channel frequency!
- Microphone Audio Gain Settings: Sound great and customize your microphone output for any repeater
- Expanded Frequency Range Support
- Auto Power Off Function: Save your battery and prevent unnecessary power draining
- Channel Mode Editing Settings: Edit saved memory channels on-the-fly; our radio does not require you to delete a channel to make changes
- New Scanning Modes: Auto Scan (Scan with a power reboot), Scanning Resume, and Variable Frequency Scanning

RJ45 to K1 Audio AdaptorThe UV-25X2 also includes a RJ45 to K1 Audio Adaptor, allowing you to use K1 audio accessories from our BTECH handheld radios with your mobile radio! The radio includes special menus to allow audio to be routed both through the UV-25X2 and K1 accessory, only through the radio, or only through the K1 audio accessory. |
Uniquely customize your UV-25X2The X-Series Mobiles use our Multi-Color LCD display screen. You can adjust the complete display colors to be exactly as you want it. Beyond the display, you can fully customize your channels to display their alpha-numeric names or frequency settings. There are 128 programmable memory channels. You can add or remove channels from scanning list. You can easily program from a PC or right on the radio itself. Pair the UV-25X2 with the Nagoya UT-72 Magnetic Mount Antenna for easy installation with the UHF antenna connectors. |
Group Tones supportedThe UV-25X2 supports the most common Analog Tones. It supports CTCSS, DCS, 2Tone, 5Tone, and DTMF calling methods. Set-up your calling methods to call by group tones. Tone calling (private line) is required by most repeater applications and the UV-25X2 supports the latest standards. The UV-25X2 can even send DTMF tones. This allows for sending ANI (Caller ID) or remote commands that require DTMF tones; or it can receive incoming DTMF tones to allow for remote stun or kill commands |
Quad Watch and Display SyncThe UV-25X2 operates as multiple radios in one, with either VHF or UHF as the 'Main' band, while simultaneously watching up to 3 other frequencies or channels; and, if you like, you can configure your UV-25X2 for simultaneous VHF-VHF or UHF-UHF operation, too! Dual Sync Display: With Dual Sync Display, you can synchronize channel lines to one or two channels. This allows you to sync display 'lines' to a single channel allowing the user to have both frequency and channel name data displayed simultaneously. |

Pro's so far:
- Solid construction. This radio doesn't feel cheap. Its not heavy, but its not light either, It feels really good in the hand. I inspected the radio thoroughly after unboxing and I couldn't find any tool marks, scratches, nicks, dings, or other deformities in the body, buttons, or knobs. Same story with microphone. Its perfectly sized and fits really well in the hand. Buttons are well positioned and the PTT has a very tactile 'click" when it is engaged, not mushy at all.
- Size. This thing is small. Great for use in a smaller car.
- Easy to program. I purchased a PC04 programming cable with my order and used CHIRP to program the radio with 120 frequencies. It was a breeze. Took less then 5 minutes.
- Screen clarity. Again, I've only had the radio for a few hours and I haven't been able to mess with the different color options yet, but the screen looks great.
Cons:
- Channel knob likes to skip around if moved quickly. I can't spin the knob quickly to get to a specific channel. Spinning the knob too fast will cause the channel number to only go up 2 or 3 slots or it might even go down a few numbers. I have to manually type in the desired channel number on the mic if its a good distance away in the term of channel numbers.
- **This is a personal gripe, not an issue with the radio** The radio must be plugged into a vehicle or a AC to DC power supply to program via computer. I know these radios area markete for "Mobile" use and designed to be used in a vehicle. However, it would be nice if manufacturers would include some kind of adapter for those of us that would like to use mobile radios as base radios without having to buy a $100 power supply.
I will provide an update after I've gotten some additional time using it.
**EDIT** Someone in the questions asked for pictures of the power connector, so here they are.

Pros:
1. Very compact
2. Easy to program through the unit or with oem software or chirp
3. Clear audio with the speaker and clear reports from my transmission
4. Nice bright display
5. Nice set of features
Cons:
1. Doesn't produce advertised power. My measurements are about 21w on vhf and 18w on uhf. Not enough to be a deal breaker for me but they should advertise it correctly.
2. The audio port is very nonstandard. It is a trrs plug with the audio on the sleeve and first ring which is not compatible with any known speaker wiring. I needed to make my own adapter for use with my mono speaker. At least they show you the pin out in the manual.
3. Terrible technical support. I emailed them asking for an adapter for the above listed plug issue, they emailed me two very wrong links to Amazon plugs, one of which was a 1/4" plug that obviously wouldn't even fit in the unit. When I called them out the second time they just quit responding. So good luck getting them to help you with anything.
4. Buttons on the mic are a bit small and I need to use my fingernail to push them in since they are flush to the face.
5. Super slow scanning. Don't even bother trying to use it as a scanner.
I picked it up for $94 on black Friday sale and I'd say it is a decent value. Good for mobile unit with small footprint and good sound. But don't expect much more.
