Swapped this onto my '17 Taco a couple weeks ago with a new washer that came with. I've checked twice since to make sure it's sealed well and it is. Torque to 30 f/lb, or modestly. I like the idea of simply flipping a switch (ball joint I believe) and not having to clean up an oil mess every time you're juggling a drain plug....anything to streamline this process is welcome since I've omitted the local dealership. I may or may not use a length of tubing in the future, but either way this should be cleaner & quicker. I have yet to drain with it, however when I do I'll first bring the vehicle up to operating temp, kill the engine and remove the engine oil fill cap under the hood to expedite drainage of used oil. My guess is this part cuts flow in half. Probably best to get a visual on the washer every occasion when under the block....may need to swap that out from time to time.
I have a 2017 V6 Toyota Tacoma. This was super easy to install. I just installed it when I did my last oil change. I keep the OEM drain plug with a new crush washer in my glove box, just in case. My order did come with the plastic clip to prevent the lever from moving. I know a few people said their order didn't come with it, but mine did. The spring used to keep the lever locked is strong enough for it to not move under normal operating conditions. I have a TRD skid plate on mine, so even if it didn't come with the plastic clip, I personally wouldn't be concerned with it. Overall I have no complaints with this valve. If something happens to change my mind, I will update this review.
This is my 5th valve from this company. I put them on all my vehicles. It makes changing the oil so much easier and less messy. Please check the Fumoto web site and enter your vehicle info so that you order the correct valve.
Very good quality build, easy to use. I originally bought this for my 4runner. It was beginning to get tedious removing the skid-plates every time I would do an oil change and you can easily access this valve through a small hole in the plate. Though, the nipple for a hose is not very long... if you plan on implementing a hose during oil drainage, you will need to manually hold the hose in place. Warm oil will heat up the brass and then soften the hose, to where it will drop from the fitting into your catch receptical and a mess will ensue. If there is zero wind factor, you can skip using a hose.
