OK I am a total nube with 3d printers. This printer had the features that were recommended on a 3d printing forum, dual z axis drive, dual supported y axis and direct drive extruder. There were no reviews on youtube and just a couple here but I pulled the trigger anyways. I figured for the price I would be able to upgrade parts and still come out ahead compared to similarly featured models. I got the unassembled kit so I would know how it was put together. I used youtube for assembly instructions and never opened the manual. easy enough, just takeyour time. The reviews here said replace the bearings so I ordered those with the kit and the stock bearings have never seen any use. They also said to replace the belt with fiberglass reinforced ones but that didn't come till the 2nd week. I advise both bearings and belts to begin with. I could never get the filament loaded without taking the extruder apart and manually stringing it through the TINY hole it goes through. I had no qualms about ordering a new extruder and at $25 I ordered 2. After that was replaced it was all rabbit holes from there. One for Cura slicing software and another deep one for upgrading the firmware to Marlin. Both free by the way.I've learned about calibrating steppers, filament feeds, PID settings, g-code commands, auto leveling, ect... And it has been a blast! Who says you can't teach old dogs new tricks. the skull is really close to life size and took 34 hours and 44 minutes to complete.I don't know cad design but will in time, but there is plenty online to download and print for free so you will always have something to print. So in the end if you take your time and have some patience this is a machine comparable to the ones priced at $700-800.

1.0 out of 5 stars Issue with X-axis and z-axis homing properly.
Reviewed in the United States on April 21, 2021
I have followed the instructions to the fullest. But still ran into issues.
Number one the three prints that come with the package suck. They are not even well made.
Two the X-axis motor runs the wrong way. So I have tried to reflash the firmware and that doesn't fit the issue. When you try to home it the extruder will go back to the left and will not work. Y-axis is at 0 and z-axis does not reach a 350 and on top of that it will home at 3 inches above the bed.
Three the firm where is outdated. And you have to find the firmware online. There is some good firmware out there but you have to tweek it to what you want it to do.
Four there is no tech support from Amazon and I am still waiting to hear back from the company by email.
If you put the X-axis motor in front and not the back than it will work properly. So that is one issue down but now I have to work on the z-axis issue. And have to do more research for the best firmware.
Overall if you know a lot about 3d printer and can figure out everything than I think this is going to be a good printer because your able to do upgrade and from what I have been told the print is good.
It better than the tronxy I have bought and broke down on the three print because of the firmware. But I need a bigger print bed so I went and got this one. Just hope to get up and running soon before lose more money.
Update. I have gone the motherboard and work on this over the past year and it becomes a big paper wieght

5.0 out of 5 stars Works Excellent
Reviewed in the United States on May 20, 2019
This printer works fantastic. The A8 Plus comes with most of the upgrades that you need to do to the A8. The one thing I was a bit disappointed in was the user manual. It was not a good source of info to build the printer. However, Anet has a great assembly video that was easy to follow and was dead on. The first real piece I have printed was for a stop collar on a drill press that was broken. The pictures are of the original broken piece and the one I designed and printed. It is installed on the drill press and works great. I had one issue with the build not sticking to the build plate. This was remedied by cleaning the build plate and increasing the nozzle temp to 215 degrees. I am working on several other builds and I couldn't be more pleased with the functionality. I have since had a few issues with the cheap bearings that tore up the rods. I have replaced all of the bearings with Igus Drylin polymer bearings and replaced the rods with new ones. in doing so, I found that once you tighten the bearing holders it puts a slight bind on the bearings. No matter what I tried, I could not get them to align correctly until I drilled out all of the holes in the extruder carrier so I could have a slightly larger hole to shift the bearing holders in. It works so much better with the drylin bearings once you get rid of the binding issues. The printer itself works great. There are a few cheap hardware parts and like others, I have printed several replacement parts such as a new Fan shroud and low profile clips for the glass plate. I would and do still recommend this printer to others.
