The struts are packaged very well. The install was very easy, taking no more than 20 to 25 minutes at all. I installing the upper brackets on the hood was easy I insured I wipe down the area and clean with my own alcohol wipes. After the install, I tested the lift of the struts they do very well and lift better than the height then using the rod. The two negatives I have the first the instructions are very poor, as all other comments said I had to go to YouTube to find a video on how to install. The second the lower end of the strut on the driver side as you install the bracket by removing the bolt for the battery cable and replacing it with the bolt that comes in the kit, which is fine. However, tacoma‘s have a curve on that section of the paneling so the head of the bolt is at a slight angle for the strut insert. Time will tell if this will be a problem or cause excess pressure on the head leading to any force that would cause breakage.

If you want the ease of opening and closing your Tacoma hood without that ugly prop rod, get these immediately. Installation is extremely simple, and you don't need to drill any holes unlike other options on the market. You screw into preexisting holes under your hood and mount the brackets using 1 bolt already in place. Look on YouTube for installation help if needed. Remember that the shorter strut goes on the driver side and longer is on the passenger side. You will need to manually push your hood up with one hand while attaching each strut, but nothing that can't be handled by one person. They fit perfectly, perform great, seem to have enough weight and size to hold up the hood, and are an excellent find at this price.

Pretty easy and straight-forward install. A few good YouTube videos can be used for reference - seeing it done helps. Instructions are poor as most people note. The posts on the hood brackets point to the outside when installed. The hood bolts were 12mm on my truck. They weren't super tight, so an adjustable wrench could have been used to remove them. To install the post in the engine compartment on the passenger side, you can open the top of the air filter, remove the filter, and the (3) 12mm bolts holding the lower part of the filter box. Moving that out of the way made post install at that location a piece of cake.

I installed these on my 2020 Tacoma SR5 so this review is about my vehicle. I can’t say about other Tacomas. Very easy to install. All you really need is a 10mm and 12mm sockets, preferably deep well or the same size in a ratcheting wrench and some rubbing alcohol. Took about 30 minutes or so which included getting all of the items I needed. PRO TIP, the shorter strut goes on the drivers side of the Tacoma. After you have installed the struts, drive your vehicle for a week or so then check tightness of all of the bolts. If I could give this product 10 stars, I would based on how easy this mod was to install and how great it worked.
