There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later.
To introduce, we are using chlorine-treated spring water with no after metallic after taste. Our community water supply's TDS is <150 ppm.
For RO unit, the setup was easy to follow. 3ml household bleach was added in the yellow hose and was purged for 24 hours as instructed.
The observation on the second day (24H after sanitising and purging) was, if the storage tank is not pressurise the TDS is say 8-30ppm. But if the storage tank is full the water coming from the RO faucet's TDS is say 120 ppm. (Reading from a cheap TDS meter- no calibration)
The base line data of the TDS coming from the RO drain is >160 ppm which appears to have a filtering effect.
For the taste, I was expecting the Brita taste but is was not. It appears normal to have charcoal grains are evident coming from the faucet initially.
Not sure if the water in the drain red hose and the black hose mixes with the blue hose in the faucet or in the RO assembly or a quality or design issue with the unit or the filters.
Cannot recommend buying this for now. 09/June/21
A wood varnish after taste is evident after 24H of purging.
Quality Control is needed.
Will update the review if Amazon permits.
My first "No Good" review in Amazon.
Once installed, works vary well
ORIGINAL: I was very excited about this small unit, but after installing it I was surprised at how little water came out. I looked at the instruction manual (I see nothing on the Amazon page) and it says it makes up to 14.76 gallons per day. I had been looking at one that made 400 gallons and my old one made 50. I didn't even think that there would be one made now that would be that slow. I probably don't use 14 gallons a day, but you only get what is in the small tank, maybe a half gallon, then you have to wait and wait until more is filtered, so if you want to fill a couple of pitchers or watering cans you are out of luck unless you want to take all day to water your plants. Once the tank is empty nothing comes out. There is not even a continuous trickle like with my old filter.
After having this installed and purged over a couple of days I let it sit for about 18 hours then measured how much water came out. I got 13 1/2 cups (.8125 gallons), so that must be the maximum capacity of the tank. I measured out how much more came out an hour later and got less than a cup. 15 minutes from that (total of 75 minutes) I got enough water out to bring it up to a full cup. It might get faster as the tank fills, but it is still incredibly slow. And the tank's capacity will decrease as it ages unless it is recharged with an air compressor.
I replaced a 15 yr old RO system. This is much smaller and was very easy to install. The instructions were very good and most connections were push-in. It does require a hole through the counter for the faucet. It does not require an electrical outlet. Many of the newer systems do, so it is important to check that. I don't have one so I thought this would be easier than re-wiring the lines going to the dishwasher and garbage disposal. The only complications I had were that my old system used a few non-standard sized fittings and I had to dig around to find the ones that this required. The new faucet is very nice, but I used my old one as is a Delta one that matches my faucet.
I may re-charge my bigger tank and add that in like with the small one that came with this unit. That will allow me to get a couple of gallons of water before waiting hours for the next fill. But I don't think this unit will last long in our house. It is just too slow. I am pretty disappointed.
