I did not have to change out any parts except the strut itself. This fit perfectly in the place of my previous strut on my 2015 Tacoma. It does have a bit more slop when it comes down, but that may be because I used the mounting components that were already on the truck. So far it has not been an issue. If it starts to be an issue, I will also install the hardware that came with it.

Tailgate cable binds and rubs bad, When you open the tailgate, It does open and drops slowly , but when closing the tailgate the safety cable really binds and jams on piston assy. and seems to want to push the tailgate over toward the passenger side end. I don't see any fix for it due to space and clearance. Maybe if it had a thinner piston assy. So at this point I would not recommend it. I installed it on a 2014 Tacoma Prerunner
