Expandable Add-A-Gauge Technology
The ScanGaugeII has been redesigned with expandable Add-A-Gauge (aka XGauge) technology. Add to the original 12 gauges by customizing the ScanGaugeII to monitor up to 25 more--depending on your specific vehicle's sensor design. Four gauges can be displayed simultaneously and can help determine fuel consumption rates, allowing you to adjust driving behavior and save gas. At the same time, keep an eye on coolant temperature, engine speed, and much more in real time. If there is a young driver in the house or friends borrow your car, the ScanGaugeII can record speeds of up to 158 mph and store the information for you to view later, so you will know just how fast your young driver or friend was going last night. If the unit was disconnected, you'll know: An indicator will be displayed in the trip data.

The ScanGaugeII includes a diagnostic scan tool that can check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), clear the codes, and turn off the "Check Engine" light on 99% of 1996 and newer vehicles. (However, this feature may not work on some trouble codes in Dodge vehicles.) If any DTCs are found, the ScanGauge will show how many there are as well as the codes themselves. Then you can use the Internet or repair manual to find out which is the failed part is, so you can repair it yourself or know what needs to be fixed at the mechanic's shop.

Multifunction Trip Computer
Four sets of data are automatically recorded on the trip computer: Current, Today, Previous Day, and Tank Trip. The "current" trip restarts after the engine has been off for more than 3 minutes. The "today" trip restarts after the vehicle has not moved for 9 hours, and the data from "today" is moved to "previous day" when you restart the car, so you don't have to reset the computer every time you begin a trip. "Tank trip" resets when you fill up the tank. It can provide you with "to empty" data and other useful information, which can be viewed any time during the trip. The trip computer also integrates information from the Cost Per Mile gauge. Simply enter how much you paid per gallon or liter of fuel, and the ScanGauge will automatically calculate the cost of your trips as you drive. The ScanGaugeII features 12 individually stored parameters, including:

    A must have for hybrid cars especially Toyota Prius modelsIt's been 10 years since I purchased my first Scangauge 2 for my 2012 Prius v soon after I purchased the car new. Missing the Sangage 2 in my other cars, I have since purchased one for all of my vehicles.It has been installed on top of my steering wheel column and continues to perform flawlessly.It is readily programmed to stay on when the car is in EV mode without being interrupted and turning off.I like the feature that allows me to continuously monitor the 12 volt battery voltage (a potential issue with Prius models).The engine water temperature is especially handy as well as the X-gauge function that allows me to monitor the high voltage battery temperature and the temperature of the inverter coolant.Both the electric engine water pump and the inverter coolant pump are known to fail with little warning until it's too late. Engine overheating often results in a blown head gasket and and expensive repair.Having continuous monitoring of these four parameters makes the Scangauge 2 a must have.

    Installation is a piece of cake. If you can plug in a toaster, you can install this.
    No tools required.

    Most of the menu is completely intuitive. No need to read instructions...just scroll through and select what you want (like color and brightness of display).

    There is a huge menu of data you can monitor, based on your car. You may have to input a code (listed under your car type on the ScanGuage website)...but this is just directly entered into the unit (while it's installed) by pushing buttons. VERY EASY!
    I have a hybrid, and am planning to tow with it. I can monitor 3 different inverter coolant probes !! I can monitor anything I want...huge menu of items and display whatever four items I want to monitor.

    BEST THING OF ALL: This is a product where they answer the phone and answer your questions, very nicely. There is a terrific video of exactly how to do everything you want, but if you want to ask a person, they answer the phone and help you !! From Arizona!!

    I've run a lot of systems to monitor parameters in airplanes (cylinder head temperatures, exhaust gas temperatures, etc, etc)...This is on par with aircraft systems !! PLUS it reads and clears OBD-II Maintenance codes !!

    Amazing. You will absolutely not be disappointed in this unit, ease of installation, ease of programming, ease of use. And it dims down to low levels (which I particularly like) and can have amber or red screen to save night vision (or any color you want!) Really well thought-out unit and having US phone support is outstanding.

    This is a nifty little device that attaches to your vehicle's OBDII port under the dash. It is adaptable to most vehicles (visit Scangauge's website to be sure yours is on the list). Interestingly, it interfaces via an ethernet port. I used it on a Ford Taurus, A Mercury Grand Marquis, and a Dodge Caravan. Yes, it displays real time MPG data. It also gives you the average time weighted average MPG. RPM, MPH,and TPS data- no problem. Coolant temperature, Ditto. Manifold absolute pressure depends on the vehicle. Same with intake air temperature. It does not give the actual O2 sensor reading, only if the loop is closed or open. It will definitely teach you skills to improve your fuel economy. Surprisingly, the larger your engine the better you will do because you can take advantage of low rpm high torque situations. I got 29.1 MPG with my Grand Mark using it (Averaged over 65 miles in city, highway and country backroads passing Amish Buggies) Philadelphia to Lancaster, PA. I would have given it 5 stars but the materials it is made with are lightweight and I'm not sure if it will stand the test of time. It is a very useful gadget, and it is a shame we can't hook it up to a laptop to send the data to the state DOT to pass emissions inspection. I suggest ScanGauge look into this, it would probably only take a software upgrade, I know the hardware is up to task. I also suggest they encase it in shockproof rubber to protect it.
    This is a follow up review 5000 miles out from the last review. I revised the unit to 5 stars. Its durability has proven the test of time and jockeying between 3 vehicles. It sits nicely above the wheel of my V8 Grand Marquis with no significant dash obstruction. It maves easily from vehicle to vehicle an is capable of taking a hit bere or there. It would still be nice to have a shockproof rubber case but I upped my rating to 5 stars both because it held up well and it helped me average between 24-28 MPG country in my Grand Mark. It paid for itself in gasoline already. Anything more is gravy now. The only thing I suggest is a list of OBD codes to go with the unit. It is no longer as easy to find them using google because the mechanics and auto makers want to keep this information proprietary. Google OBD and the first 50 entries are either discussion boards, parts suppliers, or sensor makers. The same happens when you seek out a specific code. You have to dig but you can find what they mean. A list would be nice.

    Bought this on recommendation from my mechanic. Had new transmission, transmission cooler and radiator installed on my old 2008 F150 pick up truck with 160K miles. Going on long trip hauling a 7800Lb travel trailer and was a good way to monitor all temperatures and pressures during trip. It worked flawlessly. Easy to set up and install plug and play. Also has custom settings feature you can add called XGauge. Very good and self explanatory information manual included and access to their website very informative and helpfull.

    Ich nutze das Teil in meinem VW Crafter Bj 2014 da ich serienmäßig keine Motortemp. Anzeige habe.
    Es kann sehr viele Daten anzeigen, wie Wassertemp., Ansauglufttemp., Drehzahl, Kraftstoffverbrauch, Bordspannung, Ladedruck (aber leider nicht in BAR, sonder nur PSI und KPA) und noch paar weitere Dinge.
    Aber leider Öltemp, sowie Öldruck kann leider nicht angezeigt werden.
    Fehlerspeicher löschen geht soweit auch gut, dafür hab ich es aber nicht gekauft.

    Der Preis ist zwar hoch aber leider gibt es sonst nichts vergleichbares.

    Bedienungsanleitung ist leider ausschließlich Englisch, was bei so einigen Fachbegriffen zumindest für mich nicht so einfach ist.

    Epic piece of kit. Does everything I was hoping for and more. Was a bit worried of compatibilty issues with Renault cars after reading about it on the net, but thankfully it works 100% on a 2009 Renault Clio. Piece of cake to get hang of and use. The only hard part is deciding where to mount the thing. Also there seems to be a bit of overlap with the fault codes. I have a faulty airbag at the minute and this does pick it up but reports it as a glow plug issue. I think a little more investigating is needed, maybe I have a glow plug problem too 😶 hopefully not though. If your considering buying, go for it, you won't regret it.
