The hydraulic crimper is a good tool for the handyman. It comes with enough dies to do automotive and farm equipment electrical repairs as well as ATV's and other small equipment that has a battery, lights and a winch. I have already made repairs to my tractor and have added a winch to the Kawasaki Mule and repaired the portable winches electrical cable. Unfortunately I can't say the same for the case. It arrived with the insides busted due to the weight of the dies and the rough handling it received in shipping. Even if it hadn't been dropped or otherwise treated rough, I believe the inside of the case would have failed within a few months due to the thinness of the plastic where the dies are stored.

As other reviewers have mentioned the dies don't always line up. This results in small ears being formed on the two angles where the dies come together. My work around is to not fully compress the terminal in the original position. Release one or two strokes before the dies meet, Rotate the terminal 60deg then compress the terminal until the dies meet, this removes the ears and makes a more uniform hexagonal al crimp. Crimps are TIGHT. I'm using this on 4 AWG battery cable with the 25mm dies and I when I pull on the crimped terminal the insulation will come off before the terminal will. I still have some 3/0 cables to and some 6 and 8 AWG insulated terminals to crimp and will update this review once I've done them.

Works very well. Metric dies not quite right for some cable sizes forcing you to drop down to the next smaller die. This leaves ears on the lug. Small inconvenience for such a low priced tool.

It would get a five star but it won't accept wire from center but has to be fed on the wire and this is a pain unless you disassemble the head and slide the die out, works good but not a high production tool unless you are only putting on lugs and not doing splices.
