Hey guys so my GF's 97 escort had a dead battery , simple enough. Now everything would come on it would even run when jumped but once I replaced the battery not even the door chime will come on. I checked all the fuses under the hood and under the dash to my knowledge. I even replaced the main fuse. Does anyone have an idea on what could be causing this problem ?

An unhealthy battery will definately keep a battery from recharging as will a unhealthy charging system. The most common cause of what you described is battery post or terminal lug corrosion. Loose or corroded ground connections will also cause the same symptoms.

Iowa=corrosion! Start checking and cleaning electrical connections. I would start with the ground lug on the engine block.
    Good luck!
