    I've had a 1999 Tacoma, extended cab, 2.7 liter 5 speed since 2002.

I just bought a 2001 Tacoma, 4 door, 3.4 liter, automatic, 4x4 with 89,000 miles on it. It has green coolant in it. I'm planning on (in no particular order, but all soon):

flushing the radiator and replace with new coolant
    replace transmission fluid
    replace differential fluid
    replace wires and sparkplugs
    lube everything

I'm debating replacing the timing belt and water pump. I'll certainly replace all the serpentine belts.

The oil has recently been changed.

Any thoughts on the timing belt and water pump? I've heard not to do it for awhile, do it right now, and do it right now but leave the waterpump if it looks fine.

    Also, any other recommendations?

Do you know if any other service has been done to it? i.e. a recent radiator fluid change, transmission fluid change, etc? If so, start with the small stuff first. The timing belt has been known to last for quite a long time, however, not the best idea. They are non-interference engines, which means the engine will not be harmed if the belt breaks, but I'd suggest changing it. Same with water pump. As an example, I have same model, year, and engine, however its only 2wd. Currently sitting at 179k miles and still on original everything, even trans fluid. So pretty much the main thing that will give me grief if the trans if and whenever it goes out. But since your truck has little miles on it, make sure to keep up on your maintenance and you should be good.

You should do the Tbelt while you have the other belts off. I believe the owners manual recommends the timing belt be done at 100k intervals and since your almost there and it's over 13 years old, it would probably be a good idea to get it out of the way. Also buy a timing belt kit which comes with water pump, tensioner, thermostat and a few other necessities. Better to do it now rather than after it breaks and ruins major engine components.

Sounds like a nice truck, miles are low for sure. Timing belt should be done at 90k mile interval or 84 months I believe. Your not gonna risk additional damage if it breaks on the 3.4 engine

3.4's are non-interfeirence motors so no engine damage will happen if the Tbelt breaks but i would replace it just for preventive maintance.
