Yep, bought a used '12 Base Access Cab, regular issue gray, and discovering things, as weather permits... (more snow coming!)

A few questions about wiring: do Base models have all the "common" wiring in place, but not the "higher-grade" components in?

    - I do not see speakers in the "half" rear doors. Is the speaker wiring there though?

    - I do not think there is anything in the front door "tweeter" round grill... same question, wiring there?

    - rear-view camera cabling is there (no camera), but where does it terminate, and is it usable in some way?

I may have other questions along the same idea, all I can think of now.

Other: my first mod will be to change the back-up lights to the Home-Depot type (not 886), and hopefully find a direct replacement for the *single* wimpy horn (suggestions welcome!)!

Welcome to TW... Use the search tool in the forums and you'll find information on most subjects.

It appears the "common" wiring is in place. I have a 13 AC base model.

There are rear speakers so to speak. Tiny things up in the headliner. The wires come up on the drivers side. There is a post on here about it somewhere. You'll have to pull some wire to get it in the doors.

The rear view cable terminates in the tailgate. There are a few options much cheaper than Toyota OEM. Need a camera with a short harness to plug into the existing cable. And some type of harness to plug into the stereo so you can view the image, because you don't have the screen in the rear view mirror.
This can all be found in plug and play.. No need to hack into the wiring.

If you want fog lights, that is also probably pre wired. They we're in mine. Just get the switch a relay and some cheap Camry fogs. For less than $100, just plug in and it works.

Your base model probably doesn't have intermittent wipers either. That is as easy as changing out the switch arm.

Use the search tool and also check out the cheap/free mods thread. Lots of good ideas

FYI the 2.7L base models DO NOT come with the same factory wiring that the base v6 models come with.. ie. Fog Light harness, and I believe rear view camera harness.

Yes, I have the 2.7 L Base, not V6. I am aware things may be different across liveries.

Tailgate rear-view harness: There is a cable bundle visible at the bottom of tailgate (and a dummy plug with instructions in glove compartment). The question is, where does it, and how does it end inside the cabin?

Rear speaker: Cholland, I do not see any hint of a speaker on the headliner.
EDIT: I did the right search and found the inner rear door speaker mount information, which may or may not apply to the 2.7 L...

I would have to wait for a warm spell so I could investigate better, outside..

Carbon filter removal. Intermittent Wiper Stalk. Cruise Control. Fog Lights.
I'm interested in this too. I'd like to install some speakers in the rear doors.
