sorry to create another thread but sometimes that's what happens when you ask other questions along the way of a thread and I guess no one saw it ;)

copy and pasting what I asked:

cool guys thanks to All that chimed in and replied. I'm loving my 04, had it now almost 2 months. Just put on a new air filter housing today and new headlight bulbs. Air filter housing was cracked and they put epoxy around where the maf sensor, the round portion of the housing meets the square portion. I contacted the dealer I bought from to see if they would reimburse me. I did get it for a good deal on Amazon though.

Now for a few questions just asking you guys for reference, I do have the manual but haven't read up on it yet. Do you guys rotate tires about ever 6k miles and how do you rotate? Front to back, criss cross, or what?

also how often do you flush the tranny and put new fluid in? Do yourselves and anything special needing to be bought to do so?

changing the belts easy or a PITA?

clean the maf sensor sometimes? I do so on the mustang maybe once a year or ever few yrs mainly because its only pretty much driven once a wk or so.

just asking all of these questions beforehand. My mustang is a 95 and not bad to work on and the s 10 is a 92. Any modular motor or anything newer than I guess 95 might be a little harder to work on for some things. Just asking for reference. I looked at the Alternator today and doesn't look too bad to get to to change.......

yeah I forgot I'm going to change the taco's oil every 5k. With Stang I do around every 3k even though I cant rotate the stang's tires ( offset wheels).

I have a compressor and yrs ago I bought an impact gun but it wasn't even powerful enough to brake loose the stangs lug nuts. I don't remember it being a cheap ole one or anything too expensive either. So as for rotating I might resort to just taking it to a shop but I will do my own oil ;)

I rotate front to back. I never cross them. It's a personal preference. The importance is....they're getting rotated regularly and consistently.

I rotate mine @ 5K miles, but 6 is fine also. Do you have access to an owners manual? All the information you seek is right inside the owners manual.

yeah I have the manual that came with the vehicle and yes I know they are in there I was just asking before I read the manual in more detail :)

I guess there's probably not much difference in criss crossing vs not huh?

and does that mean you go back to front then criss cross then back to front then criss cross, ect?

I personally don't criss cross at all. Never have in any vehicles I've owned...that's probably old school. I've never had any problems with tire wear, handling, or noise from doing it that way. Aside from that, its just easier to rotate them that way with the equipment I have (at home). I do the work myself.

I think its a good thing to develop a rotating pattern and stick with it. Regular and consistent rotations is key - whatever patten you decide to go with. ;) Just make sure your rotating pattern is GOOD for the tire you have (some high performance directional tires can't be criss crossed).

Look at the picture of the rotation patterns again. Just follow the arrows. You cross 2 tires and keep 2 ties on the same side. The ones you cross depend on FWD, RWD or 4WD. For FWD and RWD cross the ones that are currently on the non-drive axis. For 4WD cross the front ones as they go to the back.
