Have any of you seen it this bad? I was pretty horrified to find this when changing the oil for the first time. I have a 05 4L with 180xxx kms

I just changed my oil yesterday, 2013 DCLB with 18,000kms. I had the exact same amount as yours in mine. My work commute is 4km one way.

Mine has never looked like that! Except when I had a blown head gasket & was getting coolant/water in the oil (not the Tacoma) check your coolant.

Just checked my coolant level and it a 1/4" above low level. Which could explain a mysterious fluid sprayed all over the drivers side of the engine bay.
It hasn't leaked since then (maybe 2 months)
I'll continue to monitor this closely. I do have a short commute to work, about 5 km. I do lots of city driving

Forgot to mention the dipstick looks perfect, no hint of it there. And the residue seems to stop once the plastic filler neck meets the block

Man I'm really glad I checked here first. I had this, and didn't notice on my last OC, because it wasn't there, but since then I've had the electronics update with a new exhaust sensor and the EPROM settings for the knocking, and new plugs, so I was a little perturbed.

However, wet cold couple of months and a 4 mile commute had me thinking this might not be a big deal and I would wait and see.

Now I wish I had taken a picture instead of simply cleaning it off.
