There was no lift when I used the lower setting with the OEM coils on my 99'. I believe they state that in the instructions (no lift on the lowest setting). Grab the kit from Down South Motorsports I linked above, if it fits the 04'. I got that for my 99' and I'm really happy with the results.

I'm guessing it is your "5-inch Tuff Country Lift." Looks like your stock progressive coils are mashed down by excessive preloading due to the spacer lift. The 5100s are meant to work with stock suspension and geometry. I'd get rid of the spacer lift and get a proper coilover lift if you want that much lift.

How's that when the spacer is on top ? A stock strut only has 4" 9/16 of exposed rod. I went and measured a stuck one at the parts store. Mine has about the same amount showing . The space is hallow and the strut still bolts to the oem location. Pluse I have not seen a coil over that's going to lift my front up 5 inches. This lift is not just a spacer . It has a new lower cross member....
    * note the instructions saying to retain stock struts image.jpgimage.jpg

Toytec has sent me the same 2 rear shocks. Both are F4-BE5-D560-T0. And I can't get the passenger on because the shock is too short. Does that even make sense? Will this not work for me? I can get the shock on the driver side by slightly compressing it (not even half inch)

I put my diff drop in and it seems to make a big difference. I'd go for it. Takes a lot of the angle off your cvs

Thank you for your reply. That's a lot of help. What setting do you have them at? And did you get it re-aligned?

I have them at the bottom setting and I like how it's sitting. That's with OME 881 coils because they make the lift. If you have different coils(stock) you can put them at different settings. And yes defiantly get an alignment after messing around with lower control arms. Just make sure you find a good place that knows how to align with the aftermarket stuff installed

Did RCD Billie 51ks on my 03. I got 1 3/4" out of the middle of the three settings. Perfect match for the Daystar 2" lift shackles on back. Fits 32x10 Grabbers with plenty to spare. And what a great and very noticable improvement. Did rear ujoints and carrier today. It's a Cadillac, now! I'll get a fresh pic up asap

I have a '04 tacoma 3.4l v6 4wd. I have a 3in skyjacker lift. Does anyone know if the Bilstein 5100s will work? I think the extended length for the skyjacker shocks is 24.94inches. Does any one have the extended length of the rear bilstein 5100s.

I think I found my answer and because I have replaced the full leafs I need the 5125s which closely match the old skyjacker shock fully extended length. In my research I found this chart for reference to bilstein shocks.

I did not know this until confusion popped up in a recent thread. Apparently since January, there are now two different types of adjustable 5100s:
    1. Original with 3 settings (Race CAr Dynamics)
    2. Newer alternative with 4 settings, direct from Bilstein.

From Wheeler's site: This high performance Bilstein front shock set has 3 spring seat positions you can choose that provide approximately 0″-2.5″ lift with your factory coils; the lowest notch provides a stock ride height, the second notch provides 1.25″ lift and the top notch 2.5″ approximate lift. The notches support an easy to move spring clip that supports and locks the spring seat in place. These are made to work with your factory coils but we have some customers who run these with coils such as OME 2880, OME 2881, OME 2883, Toytec 112-620, Wheeler’s T1. We can assemble coils on these shocks for you to simplify your installation process, we’ve got that option listed below.

1/17: We now have these in two different versions. We have the original BE5-D558-TO shock that has been around for years (built by Bilstein exclusively for Race Car Dynamics) as well as the new 24-249928 available directly from Bilstein. The 24-249928 has 4 spring seat clip grooves and the BE5-D558-TO has 3 spring seat clip grooves. The 4th clip groove on 24-249928 is slightly higher than D558’s highest clip groove which indicates that it has the ability to provide more lift or preload than D558. The 24-249928 includes two front bumpstop spacers (big washers) for use when utilizing the 4th (highest) groove. The D558 has a heavy duty primary shaft wiper protecting the main shaft seal instead of the plastic boot that 24-249928 uses. Other than that they appear identical. One thing you’ll definitely notice is that D558 costs considerably less than 24-249928. We’ve got some comparison pictures in the gallery for your review.
