Oval Step Tube Disassembly?

    I have a set of oval OEM Toyota step tubes for my double cab. I wanted to have them powder coated with my roof basket. I pulled one end cap off but Im struggling removing the step pads. Already broke off a yellow tab and there is about 4 per pad that you cant access..
    Anyone do this before and have some tricks to this? Prying apparently isnt working.
