    Hello,

I am trying to figure out what the various ports on the back of my stock 2008 tacoma radio are for. I have attached a picture of the back of the radio. The antenna plugs into the far right, and all the ports except for the 3rd from the left are in use. Could someone please, help me? I would also like to know if any of these are for a "cd changer." I have the stock single cd player, but I don't know if there is a port for someone who might want to add a cd changer. Thanks for your help!

My end goal is to install an aux port using either

    or

I know there are multiple threads about this, but I have not found one that explains what the ports on the back of the radio are for. I apologize if this has already been discussed.

When you removed it weren't there wire harnesses plugged into them?

Yes, there were. Would you need to see those as well? I thought the port placement may be standard. (I'm really new to this.)

Well from looking at your Amazon link, it looks like it is designed to plug into the port 2nd from the left. Looks like they are both 12 pin plugs. I'd say check the wire harnesses in the dash and see if there was one plugged in there. If there was, plug everything else but that one in and see if everything works. Then order the adapter and plug it in and see if it works

Or just spend a couple hundred and get a new headunit. The stock one sucks ass anyway. You should be able to get a single din kenwood or similar and all the wire harnesses, face plates, instructions, from crutchfield for under $200/$250. The sound will be way better than the stock headunit and will have better features like Bluetooth audio, iPod integration, aux input

The input device from Amazon worked great. Theyve been around $40-$45 lately however theyre on sale right now. $24.

Of course it doesnt take 5 minutes to get the radio out get things like you like it and put back. I will say it took me longer to figure out how/where to run the 3.5mm cord than anything else.

I didnt take pics. What I did was removed the radio, removed the glove box. Theres a space on the left of the glove box hole where it fit perfectly. I ran the plug up thru the back and ran the stereo plug underneath the space up front and came around to the drivers side, its dangling at the emergency brake right now. (Ill either get an extension for it or clean it up a bit and put a new port).

Works great. Not sure Ill keep my phone hooked up to it, Ill just convert my amazon music and put it on an MP3 player and run w/ it that way...

Hey g8rzguy 78! That's awesome it worked for you. I also purchased one in October 2014 and was very pleased with it. However, one day it just stopped working. I don't know if it just broke, or the Chicago winter was too much for it. lol Have you had any problems with yours?
