Hello, I have a 97 toyota tacoma and I want to get these wheels (if they will fit) http://www.ebay.com/itm/16-Toyota-F..._Car_Truck_Wheels&hash=item4d2c469348&vxp=mtr

Anyway I apologize if this question has already been asked. Ebay says it will NOT fit but I don't know why...Everything looks right to me except these are 15mm offset, (really don't know what that means or if that even matters) Also these are 16" wheels and the stock rims for my truck are 15" (I'm 99% sure) HOWEVER, I have Fabtech suspension on my truck so it sits at least an inch or more higher then stock...Anyway any info you guys have about why they will or will not work would be greatly appreciated. ANY PICTURES OF THESE WHEELS ON MY MODEL YEAR TRUCK WOULD BE AWESOME. and will the tires rub with these wheels on my truck (if they will I'm not doing it) THANK YOU

The key is not the offset, I don't understand why everyone keeps referencing that. The key is the backspacing, the backspacing on stock 15's is 4.5 inches so if those FJ 16's have the same backspacing and you don't use too fat a tire they should fit just fine.

Yes. They will fit. No issues or concerns to be had

    Here's a tool for wheel/tire fitment
    http://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.jsp

However, offset does indeed matter just as much a backspacing when selecting wheels. By playing around with the tool you will realize what the terms mean and how it can effect your fitment.

They should, I just put a new set of wheels at a shop that installed the same set as mine on an FJ a few hours earlier.

AWWW those wheels look awesome...i was almost gonna buy those ones instead...Do you know the exact size of those? I'm a little worried because the ones i bought say they are 16X8...But everyone else that had them for sale on ebay has them listed as 16X7.5

Oh and what are the tires and size on those? My truck is 1st gen though 97 tacoma, hopefully the wheels i bought fit and don't rub cuz I'm not getting spacers so if they don't fit without rubbing They will be for sale.

Oh and one more thing i forgot to ask, whats the backspacing on the wheels you got? I'm sure they are probably the same as the ones i did since they are both TRD FJ wheels, yours are just a different style.

Tire Rack is a good place to check out backspacing and off sets, you can usually find these numbers for OE and then see how each wheel you are looking at compares to OE.

Many tire places will not sell you a tire that is larger or much different than stock. They say they are not allowed to, but many times they don't know what they are talking about. A larger tire will effect your handling, speedometer/odometer, and your gear ratio, it makes your gearing "taller" and adds more load on your auto transmission and clutch if manual. You will have a lower RPM at the same "real" speed as measured by GPS and radar guns.

Risk wise, going to a different back space or offset may mean rubbing on something or if you go out too far from the base, you are adding a lot more pressure on wheel bearings causing premature failure.

A bit off OE is nothing to worry much about.

Im running them no issues. I run 1.25" spacers just to minimize frame rub with 285/75's. Youll get a little frame rub without the spacers at full lock with the wheel compressed. and still a little bit with the spacers. Not bad though.

Youll be fine with 265/75/R16 or 265/70/R16's.
The looks are worth it if you go for 285/75s!

Also mind the ebay wheels are replicas and also come with plain white hub caps. They dont have the TRD logo on them.

I don't have any lift. Mine rub. I have 265/75 r16 and it rubbed on the frame at full turn. I got 1.25" spacers to fix it and now it rubs on the inner fender wall. I removed the mud flap and did the pinch weld mod. My tires still rub into the pinch weld area.

It doesn't seem like a big problem, but as this is my daily driver, it drives me crazy and I will be getting some height adjustable shocks just to get it to stop. People look at me funny because it will rub just coming out of a parking lot and make a loud rubbing sound.

Because you have some kind of lift, you may be fine. Pretty sure you'll still need spacers though...

yea, i went ahead and bought 1.5" spacers today...And Just to clarify are you saying it shouldnt rub at ALL with 265/75/16s or 265/7016s?? Oh and the link i posted to ebay wasnt of the actual set i purchased because I caught the plain center caps thing later...and bought another a diff. set.
And lastly, bad ass looking truck.

Yeah actually, could you could take a shot with a tape measure to see:

The height from ground to top of the fender flare.
The gap between the wheel turned and the pinch weld/mud flap bolt area.

I'd like to know what height I'll have to adjust some shocks to to not have problems. I can compare yours to mine. No biggie if you can't. Thanks.

So i got my stuff put on today...So first off I'm friends with the guy at my local tire store and he assured me that there was no way any tire size bigger then 255/75/R16 would fit without rubbing on my setup. I ended up buying 245/75/R16s because he was 100% sure they wouldn't rub at all. So it doesn't rub at all but I might have been able to get some 255/75/16s. without it rubbing (didn't take the time to check but he said it would be dang close to rubbing) Anyway I didn't measure anything but i still can if you want me to. but either way, it sounds like if you run the same setup as me the biggest tire you can POSSIBLY run is 255/75/16 WITHOUT ANY RUBBING. Also i did end up needing the 1.5" spacers so thank you so much for warning me about that. I'll post some pictures possibly 2maro of my truck. And if you still want me to take measurements for you just let me know, I should be able to do that for you 2maro if you do. Thanks again.

'MY TRUCK' Running 245/75/R16 Cooper discoverer S/T Armor-Tek3s, with 1.5" Spidertrax spacers, and Fabtech coilovers...Other stuff i got on it includes ARB front bumper, Flowmaster exhaust, K&N cold air intake. Probably some other stuff too but can't remember. Anyway yes indeed the TRD FJ wheels will fit on a 1st gen you will need spacers though. Thanks so much for everyone that posted on this thread.
