Anyone with an iPhone find a way to keep their ELM327 and DashCommander app connected without dropping connection?

I'm using an iPhone 5 and the cheap ELM327 wifi setup. DashCommander app will connect and read fine but within a few minutes it drops the signal before connecting again. Mostly just annoying….

Update….I've spent a few days tinkering with the app and OBDII wifi device and have concluded that the disconnecting is due to the distance of my iPhone from the OBDII wifi device. I generally have been holding the iPhone in my right hand resting on my shifter and that distance is about 3' from the transmitter. Plus it has part of the steering wheel helm in the way.

I have noticed that holding the device in my left hand resting on my knee has kept it connected with much fewer disconnections. Definitely crazy to think holding it 18" from the wifi device improves the connection substantially but it does.

And yes, it's a cheap Chinese made OBDII wifi device so perhaps this should be expected.

3' away: disconnects every 2 minutes or so
18" away: disconnects once every 20 minutes or so

Hope this helps anyone who has had the same frustration with this combo!

I have a Xseries OBDII 327 wifi Scanner from Amazon and an EVL OBDII 327 Bluetooth Scanner that I have been trying to use with Dash Commander and I cannot get either of them to connect at all.

I have a 2013 Tacoma and am using the app on an iPhone 6 plus. I have been searching and thought that I placed the correct information in the IP and Port locations but nothing seems to work. I also have made sure that it close to the device (within 3 inches if not touching).

Below are the settings I used:

    Wifi
    Changed from DHCP to Static
    IP: 192.168.0.5
    Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Router: 192.168..0.10 ( also tried leaving it blank)

    In App
    IP: 192.168.0.10
    Port: 35000

Did you have to do anything specific to get yours to work and transmit data? Or would you know at all why it will not connect?

The IP and Port settings that you are using are the same as mine. I did have some connectivity issues initially, but once I figured the trick about keeping the OBDII Wifi emitter and iPhone close together that seemed to solve the problem with logging on.
