Now that the mod-bug has sunk it's teeth pretty deep, I'm hoping to start documenting a comprehensive list of maintenance and the modifications to my truck. Here's my attempt at that.

First and foremost I'd like to give credit wheres its due. Almost all of my inspiration and pursuits have been based off of bits and pieces of other members build's, tutorials, write ups, and other sources of information available on this forum.

Great examples of those builds in particular, but not in any order are from the users:

    ponethousand
    pcbuilder14
    relentlesstaco
    capturecolorado
    boxrocket
    blackdawg

:D maybe in time. I'd have to figure out what seat swap I'd want to do before doing the leather. Something with side support and adjustability. Was thinking 4 runner seats for a while, but pursuing any further kinda died off...

    The list doesn't end!

I used duplicolor bed armor. You can get a direct link to it if you look under my "what mods have been done" section. You can get 4 cans for just over $31 with coupon code TRT25 on the advanced auto parts site. Pick up at store for free shipping.

Wasn't too hard. Unscrew/unbolt the fasteners from the underside of the flare within the fender well (you'll see them). You have to remove the mud flaps IIRC. Then gently pull away. The clips inside the flare will break/pop off. I took a picture of them to remember the order of the colored clips. No damage will be done to the body, but you need to purchase new clips to put it back on. Their part numbers are listed under the "what mods have been done" section and be searched on ebay with their part numbers. I can't remember how many i used of each but they are cheap so grab a bunch. Ones shipped from china take a long time to get to you.

I found 1 area of the clips to be a huge bitch to remove. You'll see which ones I'm talking about once you get there. I found it easy to carefully drill into the clip using a small bit (while on the truck) and twisting it out.

-Make sure to wash the flares with soapy water and degreaser.
    -Let dry.
-Then scuff them up really well with a low grit sand paper.
    -Wash. let dry again.
-Apply painters tape to the rubber strip. Take your time. Only cover the rubber. It will be obvious once finished if you get tape onto the flare.
-Use a primer spray paint follow the directions on the can for spray distance.
    -Let dry.
-Multiple coats of 'duplicolor bed armor' throughout the day. It goes on thick and very blotchy but looks different when dry. I used about 3 to 4 cans wiping the spray nozzle intermittently

Key thing is to take your time, especially with the taping of the rubber on the flare. Don't expect it done in 1 day. If you rush, it will look like shit.

Very tempting to do.... Any reason you wend with duplicolor over rustoleum?

Purchased some 5100 shocks. Except these are for tundras. I saw a write up here that they should fit, and have 5 levels of adjustment vs 3. The downside is that they are very stiff. I need something as a temporary solution for my tire rub problem.

I also made a MOCK UP for some retrofit headlights. Housings are old OEMs that were in rough shape. I painted them quickly and poorly. Lol. I Wanted to see the shrouds in person and get a feel for my options before moving ahead with a legitimate effort/decision.

Thinking I like the Iris the best

Orbit and Gatling shrouds were my alternatives. They are bigger than I thought.

I think the Gatling looks the best. However i know you wanted a more smooth design.

Just saw that I'm on your list of builds you've been inspired by. I'm glad I could have done something to inspire you in any sort of fashion. Truck looks great, and I'm digging the FJC TRD wheels on a silver double cab. Definately curious to see what happen to the truck later down the road.

Got the tundra brakes, wheelers ss brake lines (front and rear), caliper decals from speedys garage, and tundra adjustable 5100 shocks up front All installed. Set to 1.3" lift. Much less tire rub.
