I have a wireless router and I have my laptop, 3 phones, a ps3, and a desktop and maybe one more device runnning wireless off the router. My desktop I can run a cat 5 cable to the router but just left the network adapter in it from when i had it in the mancave. Will taking out the adapter from the desktop and run it via cat 5 cable speed up my laptop from running a little slow sometimes? Just wondering if a lot of traffic on the router will cause it to run slower and just wondering if doing that will help. And I mainly ask because i havent even used the desktop in ages but using it now cause my son is on my laptop with a project. So i almost dont want to mess up the laptop and how good and surprise i see it still running. Almost dont want to have to reset anything or reconfigure from removing the adapter and maybe putting it back in, ect.

The more you have connected to a wireless router the slower it will go. It depends on the individual router as to how many devices will affect it and how much it is affected. If it's a dual band router you could connect some to the 5gz band and some to the 2.4 band.

ok and so basically being connected probably doesn't matter if it's connected wirelessly or plugged in then in that regard?

Your internet connection is usually a bigger bottleneck than wireless speeds. If that's the problem, wired won't make a bit of difference.

    gotcha

just unplugged the adapter from desktop and wired it. So far laptop appears to be a little faster but its probably just one of those things and not from what I just did lol.

By the way, if yoy guys are car audio savvy can you go to the audio section and check/reply to my thread if you can. Thanks. Since I got my Tacoma and came here you guys are way more responsive than most forums by far
