Well, since you are in the 3rd gen section, which is for future models, you won't find anyone with that experience.

You also don't state what year your truck is, which matter a little, as the gates got stronger over the years.

And if you'll use the spiffy search feature, and enter something like 'tailgate reinforcement', you'll get right on the threads you need to review.

Several nice products are sold by folks here for this purpose.
