I am excitedly awaiting my Prinsu roof rack and planned on putting the rain channel trim back in and drilling holes through it. But I have been reading that it'll probably not stay in after I take it off.

Does anyone know if there are possibly dimensions out there somewhere for where the hole locations are, and I could drill with a smaller bit to find them. It seems like if I take it off, its best to leave it off, since it'll come off unless I use serious adhesive.

I searched but did not find much.

Wouldn't the Prinsu rack sandwhich it anyways?

I'm not sure exactly how it mounts since I don't have it yet, but in the Prinsu thread it shows pictures of people cutting out that section of trim or just drilling out that section and using a spacer.

Best thing to do is peel the strip till you're able to see where the wholes are. Then make your marks or drill your holes. But you have holes at the front middle and rear. Two holes each.

Thats what I was afraid of. Might just take them off since I dont want to drill them and end up having them fly off down the road.

Stupid amount of extra heavy metal all over
It would be hard to measure and drill the exact spot without taking out the trim piece. Not to mention that if you went a mm to far with the drill you'd be drilling into your metal roof.

I can take pictures of mine tomorrow, but basically it stays put when you reinstall it with the rack, there's no way it could fly off. The only issue is the ends on the front and back aren't secure because the clips often break off when you remove the trim piece. So there's about 6" on the front and back that can peel back and not stay in the channel. However, there's a metal strip embedded in the rubber trim that makes it somewhat stiff and also lets you bend it a little. I pre-bent the ends before reinstalling with the rack so that they naturally want to stay in place and shouldn't come out unless someone grabbed them and pulled. This metal strip is also what makes it hard to drill nicely centered holes, so drill carefully or buy a punch like some people have done.
