Ok i'm thinking about buying a 2.75" lift and putting some 33s (285/75/16) on. I'm looking at a set of BFGoodrich KO2s or Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac. Which do y'all think is best. Need a tire that'll last long, good tread wear, don't care about noise, good off road. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

pretty sure your need to trim wheelwell and take off mudflaps and maybe cut body mount. maybe go skinner and it will work. but im no expert

If you're looking for 33s that fit well, might want to consider one of the skinnier options like BFG KM2 or Cooper ST Maxx. I just went with the Coopers and other than removing my front mudflaps, no trimming needed and I'm only running 0.5" of lift currently (need to bump up my 5100s). Good price and great reviews for the most part.

The KM2 comes in 255 width while the KO2 does not ( last I checked )

The narrower tire will give you less rubbing issues when steering compared to a wide tire.

Would y'all recommend a lighter 33 or a more off road capable 31? I go off road every once in a while but mostly back and forth to school and im planing on a 2.25 level lift. Havent decided 100% though

Clay- I currently on a 2.75" lift with 265/75/R16s (31.5" tall) All terrain. Reason why I'm not on 33s yet is because I do about 350 miles a week and do a Michigan to New York trip (1300 mile round trip) almost once a month.

Couple things. 31.5s will be cheaper then 33s. You'll get better mpgs on the smaller/narrow tire. So the 255/85R16 will get better MPG then the 285/75R16. but they both will be heavier then the 265/75R16. The 255s only come in Load Range E which means the tire is heavy with a lot of rotational mass (harder to stop and start means burns more fuel) The 285s are wide (more road friction less MPG). I think if you are still in school and doing a decent amount of driving stick to the 265/75R16s. Lots of options out there for them. You can get a really decent all terrains. BGF K02s, Cooper AT3s, Nitto Terra Grapplers etc etc.

My plan eventually is to get a set of Cooper St Maxx 255/85R16 for a spare wheeling set. Another option is 235/85R16. Same height as the 265s (31.5" tall) but narrow so helps with fuel economy. Personally thats a little to narrow for me and I would only use that for winter tires.

Load Range is going to factor things to. You can run Passenger (P-Rated) they are cheaper. But thinner side walls and treads. C, D, and E are all LT-Rated. E is a tad much for a Tacoma but really thick sidewalls and treads, they are just expensive and heavy. Try to get a C or D rated if you can

Hope this helps. Biggest struggle I had was what to do for tires and sizes but my commute forced me to get a smaller all-terrain for right now. Currently 265/75R16 Cooper ATPs P-Rated (discount tire direct exclusive)

Also forgot, you can get through a lot of situations on 31.5s. I have done stuff where people on 33s struggled. Its all down to how well you know your truck and how confident a driver you are. Starting out smaller and working up def helps with skills and getting better. Started with a 95 reg cab on 31.5 cooper STTs and me and my brother were going places guys on 35s couldn't go.

yeah i get you on that on my f150 i got though more than my buddie with 39 super swampers so ik the bigger the tire the better bs and ok i always thought the 255 and down were smaller. Didn't know it was the same for some.

No Problem! Yeah 255/85R16 are little taller then 33 (33.06 x 10). 285/75R16 (32.83 x 11.02) are a little under. Now of course ever manufacture will vary but thats the general idea.
