On my way home from work the other day I counted 12 2nd Gen Tacomas. One which was a DCLB. I am not disputing OZ's facts though... I am sure there were a bunch more I didnt see high centered on speed bumps or doing a thousand point turn trying to get out of a parking space. ;)

Same reason for me. Wanted MT but did not come in DCLB config.

i would have paid extra for the locker if they offered it but still happy with getting the LB instead of the SB. Most people around here have the SB which makes mine a little less like everyone else's! :D

When I was on the dealer lot yesterday they had 12 Tacomas. I think 8 were DCLB, 2 DCSB, 1 access cab and one base.

I don't attribute that to the long bed being more popular. In fact, I figured it was opposite: They had plenty of DCLB left because the DCSB sell out quickly. I wanted a short bed originally, but only because it was going to be cheaper. When they gave a great price on the long bed I jumped on it. I do wish it had a locker, but its not a big deal considering this thing is a daily. The most real action it will see is a dirt road here or there and maybe some snow on snowboarding trips.

The long bed looks best, short bed looks like its been compacted too much.

In other news, I luv my skewp.

Those who say the DCLB isn't as good off-road has never taken one off-roading. I get to take both a DCSB and a DCLB off-roading on an almost daily basis. Other than super narrow rock crawling, the DCLB is superior in every other terrain type. Longer wheel base is more stable in soft sand, has a better balance for woops, climbs hills better, and drifts corners better. If the only reason you got a DCSB Tacoma was to rock crawl it, you should have purchased a Jeep.

So you're saying the DCSB is inferior to a Jeep?

    Agreed

The reason that DCLB's are best selling configurationin Canada is that IQ's, as a rule, increase as one moves up through the Southern USA and into Canada. This rule will generally reverse again North of the middle part of Canada and to the East and to some extent, the West.

Please be advised that these are only very general guidelines.

Considered a DCLB, but it wouldn't fit in my garage comfortably. Maybe a lame excuse, but the TRD offroad has not disappointed so far.
