I did. They are paying 3500 minus my deductible. Insurance saved me. But still expensive.

    How many wires were cut?
That nest I posted above, the squirrel cut about 6 or 7 wires. I just soldered in wire to connect the matching colors, heat shrinked it, and re-loomed it.

The left pic was just my ghetto-fab job so I could get to work. On the right is after I got home and fixed it.

You have to remember this is a brand new truck. I'm sure I wouldn't want a repaired harness in it.

Thanks, yes it was only 2 months old. The critter chewed through probably 20 wires in three different places between the firewall and the big fusebox(?) up by the battery. Some chunks of wires were completely gone. I am glad the insurance never considered anything but a new harness. Now I am hoping they do the job right. At least this dealer has treated me right in the past.

This situation always sucks. We get them under the hood occasionally throughout the year. I had done the cabin air intake on the first weekend, but also had them all the way up to the engine air filter... need to do that intake soon.

Has anyone ever tried or heard of an attempt to use coyote urine or something similar that you can get at the stores? Thinking the predator scent might help keep them away? I'm not talking directly on the truck (much :)) but throw some around on the ground to make a barrier of sorts. Any thoughts?

+1 on mesh on the cabin air intake. My mom had rats in her cabin coming in through there. Me and my dad put some hard wear cloth on there and haven't had a problem since.
