Being in Louisiana, I would do something more like 34/15 to avoid spinning out on the flats but guess it depends on what percentage of flat vs. hills you have in your rides.

Nice bike sir, got a Madone 3.1 myself

How do you like the Garmin 500? I'm debating on getting the Garmin 800 or 810 w/ bundle.

BTW glad to see this thread is alive again

I agree, switching from mountain bike to road bike is like night and day difference. Of course it is comparing apples to oranges though lol

I almost bought a domane then a local bike shop had a Madone 3.1 in my size and was the last one in the 200 mile range I was willing to drive to buy one.

yeah its way different, just so difficult to get out for a mountain ride during the week, especially with all the snow. im hoping ill be in some good shape come spring though

but madone is always a good choice, i just like how that madone is more of a rough road race bike haha

lol true I thought it was a little bit rough at first but a change of seat and gel or chamois bike shorts makes a big difference for me. Still building up for a century ride one of these days. In the mean time I'll swim in the shallow end of the tide pool :D

Hey guys! It's finally warm enough to get the bike back out and save on gas :). Problem is that my front tire was flat. I am guess my roommate wasn't so gentle with it and possibly damaged the front wheel when moving it around.

I took it to the bike shop and they put on a new tube, filled it up and some $$ later I was out the door. Not even 30 ft from the shop I hear it deflating. I walk it back to the shop and they re-inspect it, put on a bigger tube and out the door I go. I just about get home and I hear air being released again. I take it back and they just do the same ol' BS. Done with it.

Anyways, I can only guess that the wheel is damaged and it popping the tube some how. I never done my own bicycle maintenance since I had awesome shops that knew what they were doing and didn't over charge me.

Any idea how I can diagnose this? Where is the best place to look for a new wheel to get back on the road ASAP?

check the rim for burrs around the edges. Also check where the nipples mount to the rim on the inside. It could just be bad rim tape. We did a mountain bike ride and one guy flatted 3 times, we are thinking it was from some bad rim tape. Depending on the rim that could definitely be a big problem.

    The better coast
Sounds like you need a new bike shop If that one is unwilling to check the Inner track.

Is there rim tape on it?

Too poor to list anything interesting.
Very excited to get some riding in this weekend. We've had rain constantly these last few months. So the saddle will be a nice change of pace.

I may even get to cycle to work all week as well.

I'll be down Houston way tomorrow (Hempstead to be exact). Racing the State Time Trial Championship. Really looking forward to some good weather the next few days to get some riding in!

Ya, we're looking forward to it. I read the road race course is no joke! Apparently Cavendish was out there scoping it after California(?) and was impressed. My sister lives about 30 minutes South of Richmond, so we'll be staying with her.
