    Nice truck!

Yeah, American made rarely applies to anything now a days. Least of which is automobiles.

Nice truck. Sell that white canopy and put on a black softopper. That would look terrific.

My window sticker says "PORT/PLANT: Otay Mesa, CA/TMMBC"

Some Googling pulls up this thread here on TacomaWorld:
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/288225-some-2013-tacomas-made-california.html

Looks like Otay Mesa is a "Land Port" where semis from Mexico stop and officially check in their inventory...

So I guess my truck must have been made in Mexico too. :( Wikipedia suggests the "TMMBC" is Toyota Motor Manufacutring de Baja California which is a plant in Tijuana; Baja California, Mexico.

Is there any basis for thinking that Tacomas assembled in the states are actually holding up better or put together better than those made in Mexico? or is this more of a "buy local, support local, keep the jobs at home' kind of thing?

I'm all about buy local. I work for a small business.

I'm also all about buying American if I can. Looking back I guess the America vs Mexico thing wouldn't have switch me from Long Box to Short Box. I actually desired the long box personally.

Too bad though. My old Camry came from Kentucky if I recall correctly.

Aren't GM and Ford and Dodge made in the US as well? All are top notch.

For food I buy local. For tools and hardware I will try to buy local. For vehicles, I buy what's the most reliable. I pay enough income tax in Canada (almost 40k) that I don't feel bad about buying the odd import item.
