    Hello,

I'm new here and had a few questions I was hoping some of you Could help me with...

I'm looking at trading my 2006 4Runner for a 2005 Tacoma. It is a double cab sport 4x4 automatic with approx. 95k miles. They're asking $17,900. I'll have to throw in some cash with my 4Runner. It is an '06 4x4 sport with leather, sunroof, etc., but has 142k miles on it now and some minor hail damage (thanks Oklahoma spring time). My mom bought the 4Runner new and I bought from her when it had about 75k miles, so it has had good maintenance and been nearly flawless to this point. I'm a project manager/estimator for a commercial construction company and have had more need for a truck recently so decided to get something I wouldn't have to take on another payment with but would still last me another 100k+ miles. I'm a little concerned about the mileage and not knowing much about previous maintenance, but the I've checked out the CarFax on it and it's clean and a 1 owner truck. I was hoping you all could tell me what to look for on it and any common themes with the 2005 year model you may know about? Do you think I have much wiggle room on the price? I looked on AutoTrader and within 500 miles of OKC it seemed to be the best overall deal. I've also considered a Tundra which surprisingly are somewhat cheaper based on year/mileage in the 04-08 range, but not sure about such a big truck and gas mileage. Also not as sure about the reliability of the 4.7 and 5.7 V8's. I do need 4 doors as we are expecting our first baby soon and while the wife has a 2015 4Runner, I still want to be able to have a car seat in my vehicle as well. I appreciate any advice or info!!

18k for a 10 year old truck with 142k miles on it seems a bit high to me.

Tundra trucks do sell cheaper from what I have seen, fuel mileage is awful on them

Too high for 10 year old truck.

    I'd say $13-$14k

The 4.7 is bulletproof. I really like the '04-'06 Tundra double cabs. They're similar in size to a DCLB Tacoma, everything's just a bit bigger.

Thanks for the info...I'm starting to agree that I may have to take out a small loan to spend a little more and get a newer vehicle. So here are a couple other options I've looked at that I'd be interested in your opinion of...I just can't get over how expensive the newer Tacomas are, it almost seems cheaper to buy new?! Here are a few within 500 miles of me that are 4x4 dbl cabs that are 5 yrs old or less:
    1. 2013 TRD Sport w/ 70k miles, dbl cab, 4x4, asking $25,900
    2. 2012 TRD Sport w/ 68k miles, dbl cab, 4x4, asking $25,900
    3. 2012 SR5 w/ 33k miles, dbl cab, 4x4, asking $25,900
    4. 2011 TRD Sport w/ 59k miles, dbl cab, 4x4, asking $23,900
    5. 2010 TRD Off Road w/ 59k miles, dbl cab, 4x4, asking $22,900

Let me know what you think. There are also a few crew cab 4x4 tundra's with 50k or less miles for around $25k. I don't want to really go over $25k though because at that point I may as well just buy a new Tacoma...Thanks again!!!
