The other day I parked my Tacoma and as I was getting out, remembering that it would be dark when I came out, I flipped the switch to turn the headlights on, and left. Later people came in and told me my lights were on. Hmm. Couldn't leave just then so used the remote start figuring after it ran and turned back off, the lights would go off.

    Nope.

Later I got out, got in turned the lights off, started it, and let it run a few seconds. Turned the lights on, turned the ignition off, and sure enough, as I opened the door, the lights turned off.

So is there some other sequence of ignition/light switch/door that locks the lights on or something?

Turn truck off > open door and lights will go off
Open door THEN turn truck off, lights will stay on

Lights off - turn truck off - open door - turn lights on - lights will stay on.

Truck off - lights on - and you remote start - Lights won't go off unless you open the door.
