    I have a new 2015 Tacoma 4x4 TRD sport and I want to know if I should change the oil for the first time early, like before 2k.
    Anybody got any incite on this subject??

    Thanks

    Rob. :confused::confused:

    You are going to get tons of opinions on this. In general the old rule of thumb has been to change your oil early on the first change regardless of if you are going synthetic or not. The rational being that a lot of metal chips and particles will end up in the oil during break in and should be cleaned out as soon as possible to avoid damaging the pump or having metal end up in a spot it doesn't belong.

    However, newer engines really don't break in the same way engines did 10-20 years ago. Now most of the break in is from rings seating, which are usually all good from the factory anyways, and you don't see much scoring or boring.

    I did the early change but I doubt I did any good compared to someone who didn't. I did it for the piece of mind. If that floats your boat then do it. If not, then wait until the scheduled oil change interval.

    Synthetic from the first change is a good choice :thumbsup:. If you want to run synthetic, it's better to start early rather than at a later point in the engines life for several reasons.
