The same shit everyone else has.
What can you guys tell me about the Para Expert Carries?

3" barrel, stainless slide, aluminum frame, ect.

My old lady wants a .45acp 1911 to carry with a small barrel, and we happened across these while searching.

Other than that they're being discontinued as a brand, not a lot.
What I have heard about them is that their quality is hit or miss; I have heard rumors that some of their sintered parts (safeties, mag releases, etc) tend to break in half. I have also heard that they're reliable guns and are decent for the $$.
Never having owned one all I can offer is word-of-mouth. :notsure:

Thanks for the advice. I didnt realize they were discontinuing them. I guess thats why they are on sale.

I know someone on here was planning on swapping over to a Wilson Combat extended slide release on their Ruger SR1911. Cant remember who it was though. Did this even happen? I wanna order one for mine, but I keep seeing negative reviews that it doesnt fit right and needs some "machining" and I also keep seeing reviews that it fits perfect with no issues.

    Any insight?

I love a well built revolver and own a few from .22 to .44 and 2 months ago traded a 454 Casull off.
Everyone should have had the opportunity to own and shoot a revolver at some point if you love guns.
I will say much like I do with all guns, quality first. I am a fan of SW.
I recently looked at a small J frame SW to buy for fun. The only reason I haven't is because I always gravitate towards an auto and mine already do not see enough carry or shooting time.
Also, if there is a wife or gf in the picture and you are buying it for some part time home defense, they can feel more comfortable with them as there are less moving parts than an auto in a home defence situation.
Tons more to talk about and can be an eternal debate auto vs revolver but, I vote buy and enjoy!

I'm a big fan of S&W revolvers - I have four now I think? You can still find great guns on the secondary market. I highly recommend you look into a Model 10 or 64 if you just want a solid 38 to shoot. You should be able to get a very good stainless 64 for $350. If you're looking for a carry gun, the little j frames you're looking at would be better of course.

I think I am going to pick up an overpriced from Kimber, Pro Raptor ii. I hate that the mags aren't smooth when loading, I hate that Sig is a better choice for a compact .45 and I am a diehard Sig fan(except the one I traded for the recent Glock because it wouldn't shoot for me) and I hate that it takes 500 rounds for a Kimber to think about breaking in but, I can't stop picking it up at the shop.

Joined the club today! Colt 1911 Lightweight engraved for graduation! I love it. Where is a good place to get different style grips? I was thinking some with the Colt logo would look cool. Also, I'm going to need a belt holster.

^ That's a fine 1911 you have there. Of all the models Colt's selling these days, that's the one that's piqued my interest.

For a safe queen, Cocobolo looks nice on a 1911.

For a work gun, Simonich G10 panels rock:

Guess I prefer the opposite. I like smooth grips for carry, with some type of front strap and mainspring treatment. Gunner grips tear up your seats, shirts, side. They won't slip in your hands, but most likely you'll never have to find out.
My gunners ended up on my full-rail Operator since it's just a range/home gun. My carry 1911 has smooth Hogue Pau Ferro grips.
