Photos of FJ Wheels on Tacoma

Just wanted to say sweet Tacoma's everyone!These wheels have such a unique look to them meant to be on a Tacoma!I wanted these wheels first thing when i purchased my brand new Tacoma back in 2012 and i'm lovin them ever since and more!

 

For Those running the 16" black trail team wheels, did you use the same lug nuts that were on your old wheels. I've got the standard 16" alloys that come on the off road package, and am curious if these lug nuts will work. My local dealer says I need the wheel installation package, but couldn't tell me the difference between the two. They want $150 for the set. Here's the part # they gave me

$166 ptr27-35090 TRD wheel installation kit

ptr27-35090. I'm ok with spending the money if need be but would like to confirm with others who are running these wheels already. Any light anyone can shed on this would be greatly appreciated.

 

Haha I kind of like the sleeper look with stocker wheels. And after buying Kings, you're a poor man.

 

I ordered mine from a dealership in CA and they came with lug nuts and center caps. I just wish the ones that came with the wheels were black! The lug nuts they sent looked to be the same lug nuts as my stock 17" Sport ones though. Pretty sure they are different than the steel wheel lug nuts though. I'd have them check and make sure they aren't included with the wheels... $150 is a LOT for 24 lug nuts!!!

 

So with more of an offset do the stick out a lil further? Or in further? By the way those make that truck look great. Is it leveled or lifted?

 

I picked up my set used and they didn't include the lug nuts. I agree 150.00 is a lot. I know the

ptr27-35090 is for a fj and includes 5 wheel locks, so if I buy those ill have some extras. I did find this part # for a tacoma ptr27-35100, and everything looks the same as the fj part #, just less quantity. I guess my main question is did you use 12mm conical spline lug nuts to install your trail team wheels? Thanks again for the help!

Thanks man! Yes, they will stick out 15mm more. I'm running bilsteins in the front at 1.75", then 1.5" AAL.

 

No the TT SE wheels do not use the conical lugs... From what I've read they will cause vibrations and could split the rim.

You want the flat washer style lugs... I think they are called shank lugs maybe

That's what I thought! The conical lugs didn't seem right because there's no indented seat for them on the wheel face. I guess the parts guy at my local dealership doesnt care/doesn't know much. Thank you for confirming! Should have these on in the next couple days. Can't wait!

 

The last FJs had different wheels... which also look good on Tacomas.

 

Looks good. I have the same wheels on mine and would really prefer black instead of alloy. Are yours powder coated, painted, covered in a lot of brake dust?

 

Stock Tacoma on steelies, with FJ wheel sitting along the front. Then wheels installed... it was like an entirely different vehicle after the upgrade.

 

Silver Trail Teams wrapped with Michelin LTX M/S2's.

 

These are some of the coolest looking rims Toyota makes IMHO. I'm surprised someone hasn't chimed in with a set of the Anthracite wheels yet. I think those look great also.
