I forgot to disconnect the battery before I tacked two welds on my front bumper, and when I started it up again, everything worked fine, but the Engine light and abs light right under are lit up. Have I fried the ECU or is there something else that could be wrong.

Disconnect the battery and see if things go back to normal. I've welded on vehicles plenty of times with the battery hooked up.

What kind of welding with what power of welder? What year of truck? I just welded some sliders on to my truck, I was using a friends shop and he said I didn't need to disconnect the battery. He said he welds stuff on to jeeps and buggys without disconnecting the battery. He's a really well known and reputable builder too.

I still would just to be safe. Luckily I didn't have any issues, the only reason I didn't disconnect is because he said I didn't need to and I would've felt rude disconnecting my battery in front of him.

At any rate, check the codes with a scan tool and go from there.

Mig welded, Miller 212 at 7-8 voltage (3/16") on my 2011 Tacoma. Disconnected battery, now waiting for half and hour.

Yeah, that's what I was using. My friend said he TIG welds on cars and he has to take the battery out and disconnect the ecu from the frame so it's not even touching. I don't know if that's even necessary or just required of him because he is a mechanic on the Redbull Global Rallycross team, so the consequences are pretty heavy if they fry anything.

After going through every fuse, and every online article on ecu's and batteries, I found the problem. My brother, who was helping me with my job, replaced a blown Fog light fuse with the efi 2 fuse which he thought was a spare.
