I have cooper AT3s 275 70 17 on my stock 7.5 X 17 sport wheels.... Great tires for all around use but they are rubbing on the upper and lower control arms and the inside of the frame... So I want to get some after market wheels with less back spacing and STmaxx tires... For now I'll keep my At3 for winter, they are better on the road but the maxx are better offroad...

So the big question if I go to the St Maxx should I stay with the 275 70 17 a 32" tire or go to the 285 70 17 a 33" tire??????? The maxx are about 1/2" wider than the at3s in the same size...

My concerns are rubbing on the cab mount, it would be real close with the 285s, from 0 - 1/2" from my measurments... the wheels I want are a 8 1/2 X 17 1mm off set with 4.8 bs.... I don't know anyone that has done a cab mount chop in Wisconsin...... Or I would just get it done.... I do offraod and use full travel and I have a 2 1/2" OME full lift...

2nd is reduced power and mpg... going to the 32s really dogged the motor down, I have overcome the 32s with a ton of tuning but I don't want to loose a ton of power going to 33s.... same with mpg I don't want to loose anymore mpg.... I lost 2 mpg going to 32s and got about 1 back with tuning... more for maintaining range than saving money.. I have a 3 to 5 hr drive to go offraoding and this is my weekend vehicle not my daily driver...

I do offroad, lots off trails and sand dunes in MI, the 285 would be much better in the sand and look great the main reasons I want them....

Is it worth going to 33s if I'm getting new tires or just stick with the 32s.... What do you guys think......

4.8 BS is gonna cause rubbing, for 285's you're gonna want 4.5 BS. With 285's and off roading you're gonna need to do some trimming, a cab mount chop and probably aftermarket UCA's. If you'd like 33's and don't want as much rubbing issue go with the 255/80/17 ST Maxx. If I had to do it over again I'd get 255/85/16 ST Maxx instead of the 265/75/16's that I bought. That being said, my ST Maxx are a kick ass tire.

My buddy has 275 70 17 on his stock 4runner trail wheels with no rubbing and those are suppose to be 7.5 with 4.75BS and just rub a little with my 275 on my stock wheels with 5.5"BS but thanks I'll double check to see how close we are on his runner...

I was just reading the 37" thread and makes me want bigger tires.... The OME lift and tires was a great baby step but it just makes you want more... Seams like the next step is wheels, tires, shocks and upper control arms.... $$$$$....

Cooper tires are awesome, my at3 are better on icy roads but snow covered trails the maxx are better and any thing offroad the maxx bites much harder.... my buddy has them on his tundra and his "wifes" 4runner and he loves them....

I'm basically asking if there is a big negative jumping to 33s from 32s... I know they will look great and be better in the sand but will the dog down the motor or not that much.... Or stick to the 32 and jump to 35 in a few years?????

I had 33" MT's on my '09 with stock gears and have A/T 32's on my '14. Both are heavy tires and I can't say I have noticed a huge difference.

That's what I was thinking the 32s are almost the same weight as the 33s.... in fact it looks like the 285s are couple pounds lighter than the 275s. Unless some says the 33 are too much I'm leaning towards the bigger tires so I can get the wheels I want... worse case someone will get a good deal on some 33s.....
