What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Where from? Been looking for a decent audio place in Vegas with a good shelf stock and not what you want and they'll order it.

 

That's what I figured, 886 not a good pair.

I don't think 885s with OME will work well

That said, Amazon has it for WAY cheaper than stores. So get one there and have someone install it. Someone other than Best buy.

 

I've been looking on Amazon and found one I like. I'll probably just order that and install it myself.

 

Best way to do it bud. They make wire harnesses for pretty much everything. Save some cashola and do it yourself.

 

Talked with headstrong Off-Road, they recommend 887 with Bilsteins or OME shocks. Said those lift and ride good.

 

I do make one for the DCLB! I haven't updated my website to reflect that though.

 

I found the jbl amplifier interface harness and I'm guessing that's the wiring harness I need for the Pioneer HU.

Looks right. Took me half hour tops to install my new deck. Wiring harness plugs in and then , playstation rcas, two rear monitors rcas and was all done.

 

You might need this too??? Not sure

replaced 5 year old battery and then took a cruise to reset the engine computer.

 

I saw that but I wasn't too worried about steering wheel controls since the HU comes with a remote. Plus when I looked at a brief install it showed resistors or whatever they were being soldered into the harness and I'm not too good with things like that, lol. I've installed radios before though, just not to that extent.

 

That's odd. IIRC crutchfield had steering control harnesses that were plug n play???

I kind of want my steering controls back but it's not a priority and I haven't had them working since I yanked the stock deck out almost 10 years ago.

 

I looked in the audio section and there was a sticky for the steering wheel harness and that's what the install said. I know different brands might do different things. I'll take a look at crutch field and see what they offer.

 

I just installed one of these Axxess interfaces for the steering wheel controls a couple weeks ago and it was stupid easy. Buy the Toyota specific harness for that interface also.

$10 well spent IMO, cuts install time in half. With the extra harness all you need to do is plug everything in & connect the interface to a pos & ground (I tapped into the head units wires). The interface is self programming, it will detect that it is hooked to your taco & what ever brand head unit. DONE.

 

Thought I read somewhere the (s) were the old version and (x) new version.
