    Hi everybody!

New member here, I just bought a gently used '14 somewhat impulsively as I was shopping for sports coupes I couldn't afford. That's not to say I settled though, I'm quite happy with the decision because, well, sensibility.

I didn't do a lot of research prior to purchase though and there area few idiot questions I have about my new daily driver. Any insight would be much appreciated.

    1. What does the TRD Sport have that the base model (SR5?) doesn't?
    2. What are the differences between TRD sport and off road models?
    3. It's an automatic v6 but I have 2 drive gears, "4" and "D", what are the differences?

I traded in a reasonably modified 05 Corolla but retained my sub and amp... Which leads me to
    4. Where the heck do you put a sub and 4b) is it worth the hassle?

Thanks, I was active in the 9thgencorolla forums for years and loved the community before it got corrupted and shut down; hoping for a similar experience here! (the community part not the shut down part).

1 - You can read about the differences between the TRD sport and base model, but basically TRD sport has different suspension (street oriented) and a hood scoop (probably other things, but I've never liked them because of the fake scoop and I don't want a mall crawler).

2 - I'm on my second SR5 Taco which is an upgrade from the base model. it has power everything sliding rear window, chrome grill and rear bumper, painted fender flares on 4x4 models.

The TRD offroad seems like the best option because it has upgraded off-road suspension, and a rear locker! but since I planned to go aftermarket with my suspension, and lockers I saved a lot of $ and got the SR5 instead. Turns out the TRD offroad has some other features that I wish I had like a gas tank skid plate, and side airbag shut-off switch, and color-matched grill/rear bumper, but overall I'm happy with my SR5

3 - D is for everyday driving. 2,3, and 4 will keep the car from shifting above that particular gear (e.g. in 4 your truck will not shift into 5th gear)

just got a simple lift on her
    This.
one thing to add, if towing something heavy, throw it in 4 so your truck isn't always shifting up and down searching for the right gear.

    welcome to the forum.

    To answer #4:
Behind the rear seats. I have two 12" kickers that I took out of my last car, but haven't had the time to get them installed in my truck. I have done the research on where they would go though. If you fold down the rear seats, that plastic bin type wall can be removed and a sub box installed. The amp would sit in the middle. It would be tight, but its totally do-able.
