Hey everyone, I have a 2006 Tacoma and need to get a little more under the hood. I know there are kits that are very expensive, but I am trying to keep it somewhat cheap. Just seeing if anyone knows how to make a virtually stock Toyota into a more powerful truck while keeping costs down? Thanks!

    Nothing sadly.

Unless you want a $4k supercharger or turbo that is not smog legal.

You own a truck with truck gearing and horsepower, torque specs.

The V6 4.0 can scoot though.

aftermarket air intake and cat-back exhaust will make it sound faster.

    perception is reality.

    otherwise, don't worry about it.

Not to step on the OP - Just had a follow on question for best bang for the buck -to (hopefully increase MPG & a little more HP)
    -2013 4X4 5 sp manual access cab
    - 2.7 4 cyl engine
    -stock tires 16in dunlaps

After looking up specs it believe I have the 4.10- 3rd member (gear ratio). Would going to the 3.51? 3rd member improve? OR
Looking at the LCE Header to install

I have the 4 wheel drive for when I need it here in Denver and in the summer time to ge to certain trail heads for back-packing otherwise I don't four wheel much.

Any other options without going crazy on a limited budget?

unless you go low rider style with small ass tires do not go to a lower gear ratio.

You go taller gears with taller tires ect.

say you have 30 inch tires with 4.10 gears.

33 tires require like 4.88 or 5.29 gears to bring the power level back to stock.

A header is more noise but really only gets you 2-5 hp, not worth it.

You want more power? trade for a V6.
