    Hey all -

    I'm 99% sure i'll be picking up a '97 4x4 5sp Tacoma this weekend.

Searched the site for some hot spots to check - seems the main issue here is frame rust and rot and the usual oil leaks.

Are there any other 1997-specific hot spots to pay attention to?

If anyone from the CT area has a 5sp 4x4 for under $7500 please hit me up!

Welcome to TW! The frame is the only "hot spot".

No, the body sits on top of the frame.

Bought my truck today - really pumped to get it home tuesday.

4x4 low and high work great...clutch is nice and firm but a little high...the only bad thing is that there is a little rust on the body. I read on the forum you can bring 95-00 Tacoma's to the dealership to inspect for excessive rust - how does that all work? Do I just bring the truck to the dealer and ask to check for rust?

Anyway... I was going to either bring it to the dealer and have them check it, or just Rustoleum the shit out of it.

    What do you think?
